Name that girl

Day off .. will try one.

Just saw her yesterday in an insurance company TV commercial recently on aging well. She will be 65 in July this year. Hard to find any photo of her where she is not instantly recognizable. So, I will go a little heavier on the clues, hoping not to make it too easy.

First, she was world famous for her sports accomplishments in the 1970's, and second for a fashion "statement"that you can still see even now 45 years later, let alone in a gozillion family and yearbook photos in the late 70's.

Even in her early teens, her "iconic" look and electric smile and you would know her with no clues. Hence this photo below from the 1980's when she took up a Shakespearean mix of "old and hew" in TV movie role using her looks and athletic talent.

I dug this lady at the time, still think she's a beautiful "senior citizen" who is in fact aging well in real life. Good luck

#902. Dorothy Hamill. Gold Medalist in figure skating 1976. It's the "hair" man. Flying "wedge". "Short and sassy" ... the counter to everybody (men and women with variances of that haircut) wanting Farrah's flowing mane. I chose the picture of her (long hair, no smile) from Romeo and Juliet - on ice, a TV movie early 80's. Aging well IMHO

I am "retiring" from this thread until next holiday :)

But first, one more .. while our younger members may be chewin' on #902, its time for older members to knaw on this one for a bit maybe?

Age 46 now. Actor, director, producer. Not a n"A" list mega star, she's had memorable roles tho -- you'd say 'oh, I know her" even if not by her name.

Roles ranging from trying to seduce an "ancient" virgin, to being married to a guy who became an alien, on to a "love story" about making a **** film, all the way to "clawed-up", oddball character from a fictional dystopian future.

She even first-time directed a wildly financially successful musical movie aimed at young people, while also winning directing "raspberry" (deservedly IMHO) for a different movie -- one of worst movies ever made.

Except for maybe the eyes, you likely wont know her from the photo of this 6 year old version of her. Unless you havent been to the movies in past two decades, you also may not get her from the clues.

Yes this one is intended to be harder than others .. even for the 40-somethings here in her age group.

#906. Elizabeth Banks.

The bookstore tart in "40 Year Old Virgin", the suffering wife in "Slither", co-star with Seth Rogen in "Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and that "Effie" character (crazy makeup, long fingernails) in a couple of the "Hunger Games" trilogy. Wearing a variant of the Hamill 'wedge" at six years old.

Pretty girl -- doesnt seem to take herself too seriously. I like her work.

let me try another. born in california in 1954. she started her career in show business as a singer and songwriter and was a backing vocalist for various singers. she started her television career in 1971 and has been in many tv shows and is still acting today but one 80's show notably stands out.

Your response doesn’t seem to match the tone or intent of posts previously posted. Please remain calm.

Not trying to upset anyone.

When more pictures are being thrown up before the old ones are even answered, that's a serious problem! How about just throwing a picture up every hour and let's see how organized this topic stays!! I am calm!

Three, three different pictures. Okay, four. Is it that difficult?

How do you cope with actual problems?

Things evolve. This thread has been going on a while and is 47 pages on my iPad. So there’s an audience.

I think Amazin’ has done a fantastic job of providing some of us who like this sort of thing some entertainment. And he’s gone to great effort to mix up the vintage of the gals for older and younger. I suspect you are more frustrated with my post though.

If it’s not your bag you can unsubscribe or ignore the the thread.

Thanks.
I've been following this thread from it's beginning, and I have enjoyed it. However, somewhere is the past 8 pages the answers of who these are seemed to have stopped. While I'm waiting to find out who Betty White is (which I knew, by the way), three more faces popped up and I never saw a current picture of Betty. That's all I'm saying; tell us who the one is before posting another... and another....

i got 917 getting a PM hint from @tallhair. #936 -- still chewin on -- might need to "phone a friend" (call one of my kids) :)

I am zeroing in I think. Googled "80's TV Mom's', top 8-10 women came up, and believe our girl #936 is there. "Process of elimination" after that - clues, appearance, etc. - and think I can get her identified or at least a best guess.

If not, that was a crap strategy on my part :)

Not prior to me asking the question. I see they have been now, on page 48.

Now I understand what you were saying. Yes, multiple girls were shown at once, it wasn't one at a time.

One girl at a time.
And just for the record.
The chick I had the hots for was Dorothy Hamill!
Not Betty White or Bette Davis. [ed]
