And it’s a stick too. Yes I found another one. I continue to dig up these gems. I have some really cool stuff coming up to. Please like & subscribe to my channel as I bring the car show, the swap meet & the a abandoned relics to you. Enjoy the video.

Be cool to see it back together and running. The 348 usually did not stay in one piece very long with 3 2BBLs which is probably why this one now sports a 283. The lower end on the 348 caused a lot of problems, too much mass and lots of flexing. Valve gear was also overweight and also caused problems at higher rpms. Still cool cars to drive carefully and enjoy.

Yep that’s what I’ve always heard too. He has a real nice 71 Challenger he’s about done with. I videoed it too. It’s already posted on the channel. He had a lot of cool projects.

What I found most interesting about the car was shown at 3:38 - why is the steering wheel not cracked like every Chrysler product one would be after all these years? What did they know then that GM also forgot later on? Chrysler's tilt/telescoope wheels were built by Saginaw Division of GM and they are really poor in that respect as well.

I don't have a specific answer as to what material they are made from, but I will say that I have two '64 Impalas, one of which is in similar condition to the one in the video, and both steering wheels are crack free and look almost new when cleaned up. I wish my '65 Chrysler wheel was crack free...

@C Body Bob What's in the future for this Impala?
He’s been gathering parts & has plans for a full resto. He’s found a complete Tri Power set up & a period correct 4 speed BW trans. He’s finishing up a 71 Challenger & has a basket case 69 GTX awaiting attention. Both are on my channel. Have a look.

When you talk to him next, tell him there is a guy in Rowan County who has a business dealing with W-engines (348-409). As far as I remember they are a complete W engine shop selling cores to complete engines, and even do machine work to these blocks, which I've been told is a little complicated and you really need to know what you're doing with a 348-409. I've been looking for a reasonable 409 block myself and stumbled across him at a show a year or two ago. I can't remember the business name right now, but I have his card around here somewhere. If I find it I let you know.

Also, I have some numbers books that should cover that car if he would like to know what the car was originally built with and where. I'd just need the numbers/trim tag.
