I bought the 3 volume Chrysler parts catalog off Ebay for the 66 model year. While some parts are easily looked up off the illustration pages, others are hard to find. Some questions... Is there a way to find or identify a part if you have only the 7 digit Chrysler part #?
And, the part# listing has a name/description that includes numbers that look like (23-59-61). What are these numbers for? Thank you

23-59-61 is the Part Type Code, you flip further back and find the text section for that part. In 66 there are separate columns for each platform.

If you have a number you can look in the back in the numerical listing and that will give you the Part Type Code, not all numbers are listed.

There is also an alphabetical listing, again not that great.

Part type codes are universal, same for all platforms. Sometime you may not see the part ID'd in the illustration for your car, look at the other cars and you might find it.

If you have three volumes it is probable separated Illustration / Text / Interior

Once you look in the Illustration book, you will need to go to the Text book to find the part number

Yes, I see the 6 digit reference code listings toward the back. For part groups or package #s as they call them. They send you from one volume to the next too. Makes more sense now. Thank you

The first number in the parts code (23-##-##) also matches that section in the service manual. Makes it handy when trying to figure out how a part is installed.
My parts book is well worn flipping from the illustrations to the part section to find the actual part number.
