1969 Dodge Polara, not sure if 70 will work (or Chrysler/Plymouth)

It look like I may need a dutchman panel for my car. Until I open it up and remove the top couple layers I won't know for sure but from what I can see from within the trunk I probably will need everything between the quarters, structure and all.

Thanks,

Alan

It will still be interesting to see if it would even work, if I recall Fastenal doesn't ship to California.

I had a similar dutch panel experience with my 300. Strange pop rivets turned out to be an '80's style repair, untreated sheet metal riveted onto a rusty panel below, both pieces completely destraoyed by rust. Fortunately, @Wollfen had one in decent shape. Depending on how it's cut out, the panel is actually lighter than you think. He shipped UPS without a problem. As for Fastenal, you sent a stub frame to me about 6 years ago through them, they don't do shipping in California at all now?

I don't think it would be that heavy, I do not believe Fastenal ships TO California.

They don’t. I’ve been told west of the Mississippi. I couldn’t get a bunch of body parts to Utah this summer but I think that was more Covid shut down than anything else. I took some pics & I have a video.

Looks like Plymouth/ Dodge are the same but not Chrysler, at least part # wise. That will be tough to find, fabrication / patching might be in order.

@MrMoparCHP -- here is a possibility that might be worth looking into if the Chrysler solution does not work out: a 1970 Polara 'vert parts car for sale by AMS Obsolete in Georgia. When @71Polara383 went to visit in Frank Mitchell's old yard, DL27L0D196549 was still there. Here are a couple of photos of the car in:

This picture shows what the interior looked like in 2015:

I should get credit for the last one. Hell, I found it.

If I had known whom to credit for the 2015 pic, I would have. I just had it in my files, not attributed to any one. Slight corrected :)

What do you think of the Dutchman Panel on the EL1 'vert -- could it be used in this case?
--> I believe, but am not 100% sure, that the 1969 and 1970 Polara 'vert Dutchman panels are interchangeable.
--> I don't know the rust situation on the Georgia car.

In my experience those are one of the most rust prone panels on old mopars regardless of body style. All the ones I've seen do not have paint on the underside leaving them very vulnerable. Any cars in a moist environment are susceptible; those in the open air for years have little chance to be anything but swiss cheese and/ or full of bondo. Proper way to inspect is on your back in the trunk, topside view is of limited value unless you see obvious holes. Best hope for finding original is probably some dry desert car. I'd be calling Desert Valley & similar.
