A buddy of mine has a '74 Imperial four-door that I'm looking to get the 440 and auto out of for a future project. It's been under a tree for 12 years, so it's rife with tree debris, leaves, and what-not. The soft bits in the interior are pretty rough. Glass is all still good. Doors and most of the sheetmetal is good, as are the bumpers. Thing is, I have to buy the whole car to get the drivetrain, which is OK by me.

No pics available yet; won't be able to access the car until after March 7. Let me know what you are all needing off this beast, and once the car is out from its spot, I can see what is actually good and what's junk. Body parts and such will have to be picked up in OKC. I know two guys in central Texas that will haul nearly anything to any destination in and surrounding TX; including NM, OK, LA, KS, AR, southern MO, and southern CO.

How does the windshield look? Does anyone know if a '74 Imperial Windshield would work on a '77 New Yorker?
Thanks,

Hi Patrick, I have no real need, but I'll raise the stakes by posting vs PM.

Please don't let the rear go to the boneyard if the rotors look half decent. Parked under a tree leaves lots of negative possibilities, but rotors, then park brake shoes, then park brake cables, then the caliper mounts (not sought after to my knowledge). The rear itself, once striped that far is a basic Formal 9 1/4 (I've not seen any 8 3/4, but they're said to exist).

Master cylinder, booster, and combination block would be another package sale.

A few of us got into a minor bidding battle over a 74 backlite with plug and all trim.

The bumpers are mine, if we come to a price... 74 is one year only and not so easy to find. I have no idea how I'd get it here at the moment, so I won't feel too bad if somebody else has to have it... if in good shape, I'd go for all of the bumper components, but if I had to cut the weight down to something I could reasonably as someone to ship, I'd just go after the front bright outer, which is the 74 only piece that shows.

Rear side markers are somewhat sought after, but often confused for the earlier ones. The lenses have the 71 date, but the rest of the housing is curved differently. I have a strange desire to get the sheet metal stamped openings if the 1/4s are rotten, but wouldn't kill good panels for them.

If the 1/4's are truly good, the pockets in the trunk are sound and many Formals need them.

The dash pad is unique and somebody wants it if good. They just don't want to pay a lot...

I'd put a bid on the steering wheel too. If in good shape, its worth more then the engine. If not, I'm willing to collect a core for future use.

You already know about Formal switches, and probably everything else I mentioned. When you collect it, spray her down good and get us some pictures please. Interior pieces, pot metal and sheet metal need pics for folks to get excited.

GLWS, contact me when you are ready to start into her. I might be a player for all the stuff I mentioned, but you'd have to sit on it a while before I could pull the trigger. The front bumper cover I really want, even as a core for rechroming.

Cool, I'll keep all that in mind. I won't actually have it in my possession until the end of March, but the car is only eight miles away from me.

You could make a trip of it and come for the bits you want and more! A whole lot cheaper than shipping large/heavy items these days.

I agree, but you're a bit beyond my comfortable weekend road trip radius and vacation days are hard to take right now.

Just an IDEA, if any member is traveling through OK going to Carlisle in July could piggyback them fo ya..
That would be my preference too, but would have Patrick holding them and then someone else yet to be determined. My interests are expressed, and I'm not going to freak out over anything I don't actually need right now. I'd like the bumper, so I can get it replated while I don't need it.

I suppose it would be silly to ask what color the Imperial is? Of course the steering wheel is probably cracked in 2 or 3 places and what condition the dash is in and the trim?

Thank you all for the feedback on the windshield. I may be reaching out in the next couple of weeks about that. Also, if you get a chance, could you check whether it has a rearview mirror and what condition it is in? I would imagine that the rearview mirror is the same between that and a '77 New Yorker. Unfortunately, mine seems to be missing some of the mirror material, as it is almost opaque.
Thanks,

Interior is red/white, and is mostly crap, in terms of condition. I've yet to be able to get to the car this week, so far; but it'll happen before this coming Saturday. I'll take a few pics, while I'm there.

Good Afternoon,
Any updates on moving the car into your possession? Out of curiosity, how much would you want for the windshield?
Thanks,

The owner of the car was on vacation all last week. I'm calling him back today to see if I can get out to his place to get a few pics of the Imperial. Haven't forgot you guys!

Finally got out to the Imperial this morning. It is a '75, according to the fender tag. Original Oklahoma car from New. 70K miles, parked since 1998. Interior is total crap, as the windshield and DS front window were broken out long ago. Maroon cloth interior is not worth salvaging. Full of mold and mildew, so I will not get inside of it for parts. All four doors are stuck shut right now.

The exterior is pretty good. The is a fist-sized rust hole at the edge of the rear window plug. All of the body panels are good. Bumpers are in great shape. Grille and header panel are very nice.

Engine, trans and all brackets are things I intend to keep. The only really good bits are body panels, doors and bumpers. I'm not willing to ship these at all. If you want them, you'll have to get them yourself or arrange someone to pick them up. Pics are pretty self-descriptive.

Let me know what ypu're wanting. When I get this home, it'll be gone once the eng/trans are pulled out.
