Dennis. That's his name.

Thanks for the update, I wondered what you have been up to.
I essentially spent from August to January picking away at my dads Z/28 for him. When it came into my shop, it left puddles of oil, coolant, PS, trans oil and the odd drop of brake fluid....not acceptable....

I won't detail it like I do my projects....but I will give the gist.. I wanted to make the car right for my dad as he's the most deserving man I know...he put his kids first and didn't get his first performance car till he was 67...at 71 I wanted him to have a car that looked good, but most importantly was reliable and a good runner.

Its arrival/before...

Down to a shortblock....replaced the rear main which was hard as a rock with a fel-pro double lip unit..replaced the noisy gear to gear with a double roller, scraped off 3 pounds of RTV and correctly sealed everything, new stem seals, new stretch bolts, etc etc

You can see the damage caused to the cheap clutch/flywheel by the oil contamination....I replaced it with a McLoed Street pro...Trans got all new seals and gaskets...

I also tried my hand at painting...I got paint mixed in BC/CC and sprayed the inner fenders and cowl...

Now back to your regularly scheduled Mopar's

I got looking at the floor pan I had put together for this car....at the time it was the best that I had in stock...that being said, I'm not happy with it, I didn't come this far to leave this as it is...

155813167_10225351459590895_2321190297094879686_n.jpg

so......I decided to sacrifice my reference cowl/firewall section....so I began by scraping the undercoat off....

153118990_10225351463951004_3674659861586220997_n.jpg

This section was about the only good thing on the '69 VIP, and even it has quite a bit of internal rot...but....the important parts I need are very good and original, one of my hang-ups has been the fact that my drivers side has essentially no original sheetmetal in this area, so I've been concerned about lining things up for my my one remaining bodymount. It HAS to be right.

152406965_10225351487351589_3103880399532051548_n.jpg

So I began properly removing the parts I need....This is crucial to proper alignment of the Stub...

More on that tomorrow....

Nick

Nice looking ride, great job
I wanted it done right, and I wanted it to run to it's full potential.

It now runs like a 10.5:1 .030 over 350 backed by a T-10 and 3.73 gear... It also is properly tuned so that It no longer stumbles off idle and no longer is so rich it burns your eyes...the amount of half assed cousin kissing work on this car was unbelievable, the car it's self is a 3 owner car, sold new in Barrie Ontario and garage kept it's whole life, the paint is nearly 30 years old.

Now back to your regularly scheduled Mopar's

Way-ta-go, Nick! I know you've made your dad one happy guy. You are a good son.

After running errands and having a coffee, it was time to get down to business....sometimes you need to go backwards a bit before you can progress forward.....

156073072_10225356907647093_916645082959961413_n.jpg

Next I needed to get some stuff split so I could see what I was doing...I also dug out what I needed from my parts stash...

155058817_10225357980153905_287303823219403318_n.jpg

Okay, now we need to assess my next steps.....
156284787_10225360013244731_5095737204810385637_n.jpg

Okay.....so I need to fix that part of my door jamb I guess.....
