I am having a hard time wiring my headlights. I have 4 conversion headlights that take the 9007 bulb and they come with an adapter wire. I have looked at schematics and moved the wires in accordance what I found online. The problem I am having now is...

When I turn on the headlights only with the headlight switch, it appears that the highbeam portion of the regular headlights illuminate. If I hit the switch on the floor for the highbeams, the regular lights dim (technically only the drivers side one, the passenger side stays brighter) and the Highbeams come on but look more like lowbeams. I am scratching my head on this one.

Its odd and i cant figure it out. Does anyone have the polarity or a description of how the headlight plugs are wired in the car? Its H5001 and h5006 to 9007 lamps.

Thank you!

Kind of sounds like you have the high beam power going to the low beam terminal? Look at the end of each side of the forward lamp harness for a ground on EACH side of the car.

What "conversion" bulbs are you using? Just curious.

If the high beam indicator is working, turn on the headlights and hit the dimmer switch until the high beam indicator is lit. Now take a test light and see which lead to the headlights is lit. On a 3 prong headlight, the center lead is generally the ground. You can take one of the old headlights and hot wire it to see which terminal is hooked to the high beam filament. Run the same test on one of the new headlights to see if the pattern is the same. I suspect that the replacement headlights may have the high/low beam filaments reversed unless someone has reversed the hookup in the harness someplace. This often happens when the plug to the dimmer switch has been replaced and improperly rewired.

Ok I got it working right, had low and high reversed. I have to check the grounds tomorrow, the drivinglights dim a little still when I hit the highbeams.

"Driving lights" as in "DRL" or some additional lights you have that turn on with the low beams?
