NOT MINE 79 5th Ave

Here in the Phoenix area the interiors went to hell in 3 seconds. The chrome plated plastic was awful. Too many times when these were plentiful
in the wrecking yards I'd open the door, gaze in and be amazed at the damage done by the sun here. It was nearly impossible to find anything
worth removing. Same goes for the bumpers on these and the 1981-83 Imperials. Even in the desert where there is no salt: Peeling chrome/corrosion.

I agree with other comments, right car at the wrong time. Solid design but cost cutting on materials took it's toll.

You know what? I liked these in 1979! I was working as a parts man and lot porter at the C-P-FIAT dealer in Colorado. I was a year out of HS when I saw the first beige NY 5th Ave come off the transporter. I wanted this "old man" car sooooo much! At $12,300 at that time, I'd never own a new one at $3.50/hr. But I loved moving these around the lot! I loved the interiors, plus the lighting and the dash illumination.

Anyone know why they built the rear door windows like that?
I believe that the rear windows are split into two pieces due to the size reduction of the car. Since this car is not as long as cars of the past, the full window would not have been able to fully retract and still fit inside the smaller door, meaning that they had to make the back half of the window permanent and immovable, as it did not have the clearance to fully go down.
Hope this helps,

Yes,
Nice seller but without being rude. Anyone who is interested better look before you bid.
Car looks 200% better in pictures and would not start.
I was not looking for a project, solid car rust wise but the rest of car needs a lot.
Expected some what turn key car.
No interest for me.

I said he probably wouldn't get a bid at $6500 and so now he has lowered the price in search of a bid. Again gut feeling not low enough.
