The Seat Consoles with motors are done. All new cables and brushes for the motors. All fasteners and other small metal parts were media blasted, immersion derusted and zinc plated.
All the bigger parts were down to bare metal as well and then nickel plated, which was a bad decision as I learned the hard way because the paint doesn't stick to the nickel as good as to zinc.
The mounting brackets for the motors were riveted originally. I drilled them out and replaced them with "book screws" and new rubber bushings.

I seriously doubt even a Pebble Beach quality restoration shop could be as detailed oriented.

Simply fascinating! I'd be too afraid to completely disassemble such a complex mechanism and motor and not be able to put everything back together. Once again, I am in awe by Julian's go-at-it attitude.

My little brain is having trouble looking at the fine detail work being done. This takes a great deal of time, patience, organization, photographs, money and help from a group of people on the other side of the world. A tall order for sure. Plus a car that never had a high volume production. This is difficult enough but a long way from where they were built and sold.
Hopefully when this is done you don't move to the coast and park it outside next to the ocean for 10 years..............

Julian, do you intend to submit an application on the finished car for a concours show like Amelia Island or Pebble Beach? I'm certain it would amaze and stun!

Goodwood would be a fun venue, as well!

The seat frames are done and are waiting to get upholstered, yes.
They were immersion derusted and paint stripped, CDC coated and then painted.

You all saying things I myself think from time to time. On some complex parts, my brain is having trouble understanding everything I see as well. But patience and the help of a group of people near and far is exactly what I need and have.

I made a lot of photos so far, about 20k. But I learned the hard way, that I should have made photos of all parts, not just one side. Often I have 100 photos of one side and just 5 of the other side... That's not good for reassembly...!

It took me a while, but I found a shop that had almost all the correct FLRy (or TXL in the US) wires in almost all colors I need.
The only colors I can't find in Germany are tan and dark green. They only have one "light" green.

Its nice to show you guys what I do because in the end, I'm proud of what I achieved, but no, I'm not interested to showing the car off in any sort of competing event.
I'm mainly doing all this for myself. That's why I detail stuff that nobody will ever see again once its in the car. That's fun to me and I know these parts look like they are, that's worth more to me then others seeing them.
