I have had a dozen of these made up. It was factory placed on the dashboard of the 73 Fury 2 police car we are rebuilding. I don't know how many different years and models it was installed in. If you would like one please send $15.00 to my PayPal acct and send your mailing address to me at E mail address removed by staff Thank you, Jim Dent

The constant-running a/c compressor started in the 1972 model year and continued into the 1973 model year, from what I discovered with our '72 Newport. I remember seeing a similar sticker/label on the TX DPS Plymouth Fury III cars back then, plus the added switch. My initial thought was that the lower compression 400s needed the extra power the a/c compressor was absorbing for best pursuit results, but it might also have been related to keeping the alternator turning at the higher rpms?

The later Ford Fairmonts, as did the Mustang GTs of the earlier 1980s, had an alternator cut-out at WOT, which DID cause some issues in longer chases. Many TX DPS troopers, once "bit" by that item, found somebody to disable it on the cars they were assigned to, from what I heard back then.

Enjoy!

Trust me, the 400s didnt need the switch for more power.
I had a 72 Polara Pursuit and it was plenty powerful. Shamed many a GM and Ford.
Even with the oil light flickering at idle. It finally gave up the ghost and I kept the shutoff switch. That was back in about 1980. I gave it to a FCBO member a while back.
Dont know why they had the compressor running full time.
