Doing a complete restoration of 65 Sport Fury including a major overhaul of the engine. Put in a rebuilt transmission in the previous year which was painted gray/grey! Don't remember what the original color was which might have been the same as the engine; green/turquoise. Would I be correct in assuming the green?

Bare with no paint at all from the factory.
Thanks. Since it already painted gray, I think I might consider going green or possibly paint it black since the car has a fresh undercoat of black?

Painting the transmission case is not a good idea as it causes the trans to retain heat...
Heat is very bad for the trans...
Are you sure you still want to paint the trans?

Just about to give the same advice...

The only reason transmission shops painted the trans back in the day was to identify they rebuilt it if it came back on their warranty. Good way to tell everyone the trans was rebuilt, maybe not even original to the vehicle. If you have it out of the car, paint stripper can do wonders.
