    Upper ball joints

The old ones fit but not as tight as they should be. They were tight coming out but I thing the threads are worn out. I have 2 new ball joints and they both fit the same way in both control arms. The new ones tighten up at the end so I am going to tighten them up then put some tacks on them.

    Upper ball joints

I think it is the control arms. Upper ball joints were probably replaced previously and I believe the threads in the control arms maybe only good for one replacement. They are both the same.

    Upper ball joints

I bought the upper ball joints from Craig. They do tighten up just before they bottom out, but before that they actually wiggle in the hole. I think I am going to tack them with the tig welder in a few spots.

    Upper ball joints

The threads look okay. I did take them out. They go in pretty hard then all of a sudden they get real loose and sloppy, then they tighten up when they bottom out. The old ones still go in tight all the way.

    Upper ball joints

I'm struggling with the installation of new upper ball joints on my 66 Chrysler 300. I had a hard time getting them threaded in and when I finally did they got real loose in the hole just before they bottomed out. Real loose, you could wiggle it in the hole. When you keep turning it , it...

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

Another thing that points to non original parts is that my car color is XX1 Which is beige. M4X trim code which is black. The car has a dark blue carpet. There was no broadcast sheet under the back seat but when I pulled the carpet back to remove the parking brake cable there was a broadcast...

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

This is great. Does the XX1 indicate that the roof color is beige? My car has a black vinyl roof. Maybe Beige under the vinyl and the M4X refers to the roof being vinyl?

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

Yeah, I was thinking it could have been repainted at the factory. Although the screws that hold the collar where the column shifter would have been are loose. So maybe it has been replaced. I guess it doesn't really matter.

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

I got in. Can't see anything pre-1970, and there appears to be a fee. I thought for sure someone on this forum would be an expert at 1966 Chrysler fender tag decoding.

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

There doesn't look like there is an option code breakdown in the parts manual, and I can't get into the hamtrack site.

    1966 Chryser 300 fender tag

Having trouble understanding the fender tag on my 66 300. When I decoded, it indicates both bucket seats and bench seat. It also says it has a console. The car has buckets and console. The reason I am checking is because I removed the steering column and ti is scratched in a few places and looks...

    1966 300 mouldings

I think I will wait until the fenders are off and then slide the trim off to try and save the clips. It looks like the door and rear quarter trim may slide off as well. Fender trim won't get past the door with fender on the car. Do you make the clips for the lower trim as well?

    1966 300 mouldings

Thanks, what I am trying to figure out is how to get the moulding off the clips and where to get new clips if I break some. I do have the service manual that identifies them.

1966 Chrysler 300 Side Trim Well Nuts

I might drill holes in the reinforcement to get access to those well nuts when I get the fenders off. I guess you can get the well nuts at the hardware store. Thanks.
