    Is this normal

The box isn't supposed to seep fluid, but it's common for them to do so. If it's not leaving actual puddles on the floor, I wouldn't worry about it. When and if the day comes that you're finding a puddle of fluid under the car, then it will be time to send the box out and have it rebuilt. Jeff

    1958 Plymouth trunk rust repair

Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to make your own panels from scratch. On the positive side, these semi-hidden panels don't need to be exact duplicates of the originals and can usually be made without a huge investment in specialized equipment. Most of the time you can get by...

    1957 DeSoto firedome project

That's certainly going to be an ambitious project. I love the '57-'58 Desoto's and hope to get one some day, so I'm on board with doing whatever it takes to get it fixed up and looking nice again. I believe they make some reproduction sheet metal parts like rockers and maybe floor panels...

    1956 Plymouth Fury

You're welcome. You must have a good parts store. I don't think anyone around me would have the D39's in stock these days. Jeff

    1956 Plymouth Fury

Looks like someone didn't have their morning coffee yet. :p Calipers appear to be Mopar B/E body. Pads will be D39's. Everything else in your post is spot on. Jeff

These Cars Seem to be Getting More Affordable - 1958 Desoto Spring Special

Looks like it did sell, but there will be no way to know the price. During it's third round on ebay, it appears that a behind the scenes deal was struck and the listing was ended. Jeff

These Cars Seem to be Getting More Affordable - 1958 Desoto Spring Special

No, just a guy that's local to me. Have no idea what's going on with Stitcher Bob these days. Once he sold Polaraco, that seemed to be the end of his communications concerning C bodies. Jeff

These Cars Seem to be Getting More Affordable - 1958 Desoto Spring Special

I'm a bit late to the party on this one. I don't have too much to contribute, but it was interesting to see that Bob Malone did the upholstery work on the car back in 1985. He's done a few things for me over the years. He's moved from Allentown to Perkasie and works out of a place that...

Cold War Motors epic live feed on youtube...

Cold War Motors is a YouTube channel that covers quite a wide range of interests in classic cars with some side subjects like classic snow mobiles, vintage cigarette lighters, vintage tires and more. Scott is the main guy behind it all, and is the one shown in the above photo. He's a mopar...

New guy looking at a ‘62

Rust, rust, and more rust! Even if it's a lifelong Texas car. The rockers are usually where the rust starts on these cars. Replacement rockers are available, but it's a big job to install them. The gutter around the trunk lid is another problem area. I don't believe that any off the shelf...

Notable Forward Look Plymouth - Sold for $43K and Worth It

I was car aware by about 1971, and living in Massachusetts at the time, there were almost no 1950's cars left on the road by then. One of my uncles had a 1956 Plymouth as a daily driver from 1973 to 77, and that was about the only one around. Jeff

Notable Forward Look Plymouth - Sold for $43K and Worth It

For someone who wasn't born early enough to experience the time period, it's hard to imagine that these were just regular, everyday cars. Jeff

    Snowbound Desoto

I removed everything that was worth saving and junked the rest. That was about 20 years ago. I used to have a website for selling parts and I sold a bunch of stuff off it to a restoration shop that was working on a '57. They bought the hood from me, which was a major project to crate up and...

    Snowbound Desoto

It was a Fireflite, so it had the 341 Hemi. Very well optioned car with factory A/C and power windows. Sadly it was so, so rotted that there was no way to bring it back. At one point in time I opened too many doors at one time, causing the body to bend in the middle and then the doors...

    Snowbound Desoto

Great find! It's amazingly close in color and patina to the '57 that I had years ago. Looks like yours is much better structurally than mine was. Keep us posted on future progress. Jeff

    looking for a 59 desoto/Chrysler

W.W. Have you been watching the Cold War Motors YouTube videos on the 1960 Fury restoration? Those will give you a good idea of what you're up against. I'm a bit behind on updating my thread with links to the newer episodes. He just about has all the metal work done on the car now. Some...

    looking for a 59 desoto/Chrysler

I'm not so sure about that. I think they're neck and neck in the rust department. Look at all the patches and brazing done on this fender. I bet there's a reason that the seller isn't showing the sides or any lower areas of the car. Remember, Ontario CA is terrible for rust. No better...

    looking for a 59 desoto/Chrysler

I'd add a third issue. Looking at the photo that shows the fender, the car is probably as rotted or worse than what you have. Jeff
