72 Fury Rear Bumper and Valance resto

Thanks for your interest. I did receive a reply with as picture of a bolt that a member sent me. I did have a few of the original bolts from the bumper bar which cleaned up and enabled me to ID their size. I also put some new stainless steel ones in.The Fury is coming along, albeit slowly, as...

    Speed control and speedometer cables

I forgot to mention that the vehicles odometer shows 432 miles. So it’s done 100432 I believe. Carpet everywhere except drivers floor is like new. Upholstery everywhere except drivers seat is like new. I suspect the car was used originally by either a businessman who drove around alone, or an...

    Speed control and speedometer cables

You know these cables, speed control devices and their overall operation very well cbody 67. Thank you so much for your in-depth advice. I’ve had my 72 Fury Gran Sedan for 12 months so am an amateur at best. She has the 400 ci, 2 bbl with 727 trans. Condition is ok, and I’m trying to get her to...

    Speed control and speedometer cables

Thanks for the Thank you 413 for that great expeditious reply. I’ve just tried it with a drill and unfortunately nothing on the Speedo. I used the upper cable as per fsm. I suspected as much as PO said he’d been annoyed by it being noisy and so he disabled it. I removed the shield below the...

    Speed control and speedometer cables

The speedo on my 1972 Fury gran sedan has not worked since I bought her, so I’ve purchased a new one. However, reading the FSM and taking the ancient rusted one off the trans, I believe that the speed control unit is going to be integral to this matter. It appears that there is no direct cable...

Techniques to remove the underbody protection?

I too found some yellow grease/wax pencil marks under the sand/grease/oil/deadener mix that built up over the last 50 years or so. Nice to see it and have it on show for originality purposes. I’ve actually developed epicondylitis( tennis elbow) from the daily scraping. Very painful. Like others...

Techniques to remove the underbody protection?

Thanks guys for all the help and suggestions which are very useful. I’ve scraped and sanded the wheel arches and most of the underbody areas. The Fury is certainly in a better state than 12 months ago. Every day if I can achieve at least one fix up then I’m happy. Eventually she will be ready to...

Techniques to remove the underbody protection?

Thanks my friend, but I’m in Australia. What is “ simple green?.” If it’s a product we don’t have it here, or call it something else…

Techniques to remove the underbody protection?

I’m in the middle of this job right now… Tried wire wheels( too much clogging up and flying dust), paint scrapers( too flimsy), and assorted chisels( the best). I sharpen a few different sized chisels and do a bit each day. Didn’t know it had asbestos in it. I will add the blowtorch method too...

NOT MINE Two 1971 L-code Chrysler Newport 2dr hardtops in Phoenix, AZ

I totally agree. Some people are very very weird. Why wouldn’t one take any unnecessary junk off the car prior to the photo???? Weird..

Brake light stop switch location- Please Help.

After reading about your extensive experiences with these tricky little switches, I think I will take your advice Gerald and go with a hydraulic switch sooner rather than later. I too am very much “ over” the endless hours, upside down, trying to prevent further back and neck pain, laying on...

Brake light stop switch location- Please Help.

Gerald- your advice is very welcome, along with the poetic intro-love it!! I have now about to pick up a NOS switch with thread from the post office. I am now learned in the ways e.of these devices, which may come in useful for the 1971 New Yorker I also bought at the time of my Fury purchase...

(Another) 383 2 bbl to 4 bbl conversion thread, anyone got a parts list?

As I’m starting to learn- any time I decide to do a repair/upgrade or fix on the Fury or New Yorker, it ALWAYS takes much longer than I initially thought it might. And I’m not a perfectionist. I thought the Fury would be registered by now, after driving her down from theGold Coast. No brakes...

Hi edbods. I noticed that you’re also in Australia, like me. I am thinking of a similar project for my 72 fury with a 2 bbl. I’m in Sydney. How did your upgrade go? Any advice. What state/ city are you in?

    Sump Pan- Will it Fit??

I bought a new sump pan for my 1971 New Yorker (440, 4 barrel, stock standard base performance ) and am now considering putting it onto a 1972 Fury with the 400ci 2 bbl standard engine . Is the oil sump pan for a 440 interchangeable with a 400ci 1972 engine. I can do a visual but wanted to know...
