Wheels won't fit over new disc hub?!

Wagons use the same wheels, rotors, etc. as other cars. Sounds like you got parts that weren't properly machined. Jeff

68’ 300 OEM disc swap question

Your Imperial should have a dual diaphragm booster, so that will swap in fine. You won't be able to use the pedal assembly. You may be able to swap the Imperial pedal onto the 300 pedal support. The only way to know would be to try it. Jeff

    66 300 Disc Conversion

Just in case it's not covered in the other discussions. I believe that if you have 14" rims and want to keep them, you're only choice will be the Scarebird kit. Jeff

    66 300 Disc Conversion

Now that you've started this thread, if you scroll all the way down you'll see 4 threads on disc brakes. I would check those out and see if they answer any of your questions. Jeff

    Torsion Bar Problem

Adjusting torsion bars can be tricky. One side can affect the other more than you would think. It's always best to measure the length of the adjusting bolt protrusion before taking anything apart, so you can get everything back to where it was. If before you took the car apart, the driver...

Where are all the fuselage brake calipers?

Chrysler realized the hoses were too short at some point in 1972. You probably have a later build '72 with the longer hoses. Order up a set of 1973 hoses. They are exactly 1 inch longer. I had my 1970 Newport up on the lift the other day and I noticed that the front hoses were stretched...

Why are magnum center caps so long? (they don't need to be)

My boss has a 1970 Chevelle with the Magnum 500's. I'll try to remember to measure the length of the center to see how it compares to the Chrysler. Maybe the repops I saw were a GM cap with Mopar center decals. Jeff

Why are magnum center caps so long? (they don't need to be)

I've always shared that same opinion. The centers stick out too far. I have seen some reproduction center caps that are about a half inch or so shorter than the originals, but that was a long time ago and it would probably be pretty tough to find a set. The shorty Ford centers don't clear...

    Upper ball joints

I believe that I had a similar problem a few years back with MOOG uppers. I would try to find some NOS uppers from any reputable brand and see how they fit. Craig @mobileparts probably has them in stock. I guess that there's a slight possibility that the ones that were installed on your car...

    Spindles!

That's not a bad idea. There's quite a few frequently asked questions that could be turned into "sticky" guides. For some things, especially relating to the '67-'73 Imperials, I don't think we know all the answers at this time. Rotors are a big issue for the late '69-'73 cars, though I just...

    Spindles!

Before you do anything, you should check to see if the lower ball joints are bad. Most likely they are, unless someone has already replaced them or the car has real low miles. Your lower ball joints are disc brake only and will need to be rebuilt for around $300 a side. If this is the case...

    The unknown control arm

Considering that the sub frame is attached with a piece of all-thread tack welded to the main frame of the car, I'm going to guess that there wasn't a whole lot of engineering that went into the build. I wouldn't be surprised if the caster is way off and that's why the car handles strangely...

    The unknown control arm

I'm going to have to correct you guys on this one. No question about it, that's an isolated K member used in the 1973 and up B bodies, Cordoba/Charger to 1979, and R bodies up to 1981. The FMJ has transverse torsion bars that connect to the outboard area of the lower control arm. They all...

Brake spindle to backing-plate gasket (how to DIY)

You could use some of the white foam sheet that's often used as packing material. It's usually about 1/8th inch thick, which would be perfect for a new gasket. Jeff

I totally forgot about checking into the brake valve on the weekend. Will try to do it tonight when I get back home. Jeff

    Rookie Brake Question

I could be wrong, but something looks incorrect with the labeling on that proportioning valve. Usually, everything for the font brakes is on one side of the switch, and the rear on the other side of the switch. I'll see if I can find any additional info on Saturday. Jeff

How necessary is brake swedging for these hubs+drums?

Most or all Chevrolet front drums weren't swaged from the factory throughout the 60's and 70's. They did have a tab on the drum that indexed to the hub so that the drum would go back on in the same position each time. I think the main reason many manufactures swaged the drums on was to keep...

    Imperial-69 brake component's Budd vs. Kelsey-Hayes

I first discovered that there was a problem after reading a bunch of bad reviews for the reproduction brake valves made by Inline Tube for a Challenger that I was ordering parts for. I was able to find a nice used valve from California on ebay to use instead. I've been working on a collection...
