    We have lost Rip

Too new to have posted with him on this site. But the great thing is as long as you remember him, he still lingers on. Condolences to his family and friends. Sounds like a great guy. My best friend and brother Bob past away a few years ago and he still thumps me on the head and reminds me to...

Is a 70 service manual basically the same as a 69 service manual? Also looking for a good RH mirror and crate engine builder...

Thermoquads can be tricky to dial in, but I learned from a guy who super tuned CHP carbs and had Chrysler engineers come out and document what he was doing, so I love the Thermoquad. And believe it or not, I gave input to Federal Mogal (Edelbrock carbs now) years ago about bringing back the AVS!

dodge73dart, what Mopars do you have?

    1971 300

I definitely see both sides on this particular post. Maybe we need a "What is it worth" forum to discuss something like this? Only 7204 71 300 2 doors made, and with a 440 has to be rarer than a 383. I still vote for making a driver out of if if the parts are cheap enough. But I understand...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

I've noticed (not mine cars) a lot of the Mopars I've worked on are missing the engine to firewall ground wire and sometimes the ground wire from the negative battery terminal to radiator yoke. And these are the Mopars that have ignition and light problems. Hmmm...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

I haven't driven it yet! I got it running and then tore into it because some previous owner dumped some kind of coolant leak fixing goo that plugged up the radiator, thermostat and housing. Plus all the rubber hoses were rotted. And the fuel pump wasn't. So new fuel system going in as well...

Is a 70 service manual basically the same as a 69 service manual? Also looking for a good RH mirror and crate engine builder...

For some reason I always think of a Holley as a race only carb. Some people love them, there's tons of parts for them, but I'm partial to Carter's. Maybe it was the whole power valve failure with one little backfire on the old Holleys. And they seem to leak fuel more. I'm sure the newer ones are...

Is a 70 service manual basically the same as a 69 service manual? Also looking for a good RH mirror and crate engine builder...

There were differences in the engines as well. 70 lost a lot of compression across the board except the 426 Hemi. plus all the differences listed above. Personally, I would put brass freeze plugs in your 383, and add a 72 or 73 intake and Thermoquad and be done with it! Unless your racing it, a...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

Just Carbs, agree to disagree! I'll take a Mopar electronic ignition any day over the Chevy based HEI crap! I'm sick of people trying to make their Moats into Chevy pieces of crap with ignition, crappy Chevy lobe camshafts (Comp Cams) and coil over spring front ends! Friends? I'd rather pay...

old and new Thermostat tests with questions

You might have an issue with the engine that is only amplified by the lower thermostat. I agree trying to get a Made in the USA 180°F thermostat, but sounds like you have other issues.

old and new Thermostat tests with questions

I too live in the desert and run 180°F thermostats. If I had no choice and had to use one of the two in your original post, I'd go with the old one even if it is "160°F" as it will most likely be more reliable. Mopar designed some excellent cooling systems (radiators, fan shroud, thermal clutch...

Mopar or no car! If I wanted a car that broke down all the time and I was constantly fixing, I would own a Chevy! HEI Pooh! I've had good luck with the Mancini kit.

Call me crazy (aren't all of us Mopar Nuts a little?), but I think it's re-buildable! Looks a lot better than some of the E-Bodies people are piecing back together! Sure it wouldn't be worth as much an an E-Body, but this hobby is more a passion of love than anything else. I've got eight (8)...

    My Son's Guitar

Having a 21 year old son myself who plays the guitar and owns over half a dozen, this is definitely a cool guitar, tribute and gift! P.S. no one should have to bury their children. My sincere condolences on that.
