New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

Thanks guys. I ordered 2 of the TL81 from Canada. The body looks a lot like my original and has a 25C higher temp rating than the plastic one from Vishay. Since it is in a higher temp area better safe than sorry. Says a week to 10 days will see. Its worth a shot, At least in that TI book...

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

Thanks for a $1 and probably another $ 5 shipping, I may have to try it out. I may check out the TL81 @3175375 posted above as well. So mine does not have the Base pin and is only 2 pin. In my online reading it says the base pin doesn't have to be used. Any thoughts on that?

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

Already determined the photo transistor is the issue. Now trying to find a replacement one that has been out of production since 1974. There is a video above that shows how I tested it to determine that the Photo Transistor is bad.

It likely had a little light sensitivity as the voltage seemed to go up minutely when it was shaded from the LED. Shining a bright light didn’t change anything. The photo transistor doesn’t read the gas, it is used as a switch with the chopper wheel being the switch that tells it to read either...

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

But I am hung up on the spec difference. And am wondering if they will still work with my Ifrared LED’s. Even with both data sheets I don’t know enough about these to know what matters.

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

Not much luck on the Photo- transistors. At least the TIL66, I am trying to do some research to see if I can find a compatible replacement. I may have to switch out both the IR LE and the Phototransistor's with a new matched set. Here are the ones I have. I also found a book from Texas...

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

I exploded the needle for my amp gauge. When I was switching through the different tests. Still not completely working and now I will have to borrow the meter from my blue machine. Here is a video after I rebuilt my alternator. It now has the right pattern showing all diodes in the alternator...

What are you working on today??

Rebuilt my alternator. Allen diagnostic machine alerted me to the issue of a shorted diode. First picture shows the bad pattern which had a dramatic dip when it went to the bad diode. Soldered in new diodes, bearings and brushes. I wasn’t really seeing any negative effects of it, but likely...

    NOT MINE 1968 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible L-code - $14,500 Idaho

I did see another 500 for sale last summer that didn’t have the belt line trim either. But didn’t get fender tag.

    NOT MINE 1968 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible L-code - $14,500 Idaho

3 over 0 on the fender tag is what I have on two other 68 Polara’s. Now they are base Polara’s not 500’s so not saying it couldn’t be that way. If that is the case then what are they considering as belt line trim? Would have to look at it closely. The optional fender mounted turn signals are o...

    68 NewPort 2d hardtop Ontario

Welcome and nice project. I am just the opposite. I need the good body but don’t mind the interior or mechanical. I had to hire out the body work on my 68 Polara.

    NOT MINE 1968 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible L-code - $14,500 Idaho

Top must have been replaced, it doesn’t have the glass window either. The Body belt molding (3 over 0 on tag) is gone, must have had some sort of touch up, as those trim studs need to be ground down. Yep everything but disk brakes trailer package, cruise and A/C, Has Passenger mirror and even...

    NOT MINE 1968 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible L-code - $14,500 Idaho

I kind of like this. I have my eyes on another this color but not 500 with almost every option available on a Polara in 68. And a red interior that matches mine. But It’s not for sale yet but maybe soon. I know that as soon as I would spring on this, the other would come available.

Leaf Spring Replacement - Standard or HD

I ordered a set of “Stock” springs for my’68 Polara. Mine have 5-1/2 leaves the new ones have 6. They offered to do 5-1/2 for an extra $15 . Any way it seems that for Polara the heavy duty were on 440 cars and towing package. There seems to be a mid range one based on the part numbers for police...

New project: Allen Engine analyzers, restoration?

As I am waiting to find some Phototransitors for my exhaust analyzer (I have about 4 e-mails out for RFQ). Hopefully they respond to my tiny order) I decided to uncover my car and start going through my Allen15-110 engine analyzer. Last time I could only get the oscilloscope to work. Now I am...
