Intermittent Heat Help -1965 Imperial Crown

Does the car have a "heater control valve"? It's a valve that regulates the flow of hot coolant into the heater core. My old Volvos had these valves, a lot of cars in the mid-60s had them, made by Ranco. On the Volvo, the valve mounted on the cowl on the passenger side under the hood. There...

    What'cha think?

I'll use a term the kids use these days......keep it "orige". I'm not a fan of customizing cars, I prefer them as they came from the factory. The guys who designed these American cars (Elwood Engel, Virgil Exner, Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell, Ned Nichols, Larry Shinoda, Dick Teague, Bunkie...

How many '64 - '66 Imperial ragtops are left?

There was a really nice '65 convert next to an apartment complex on Drew St. in Clearwater for the longest time. It had a sign in the window, but the sun had faded the telephone number. The price on the sign was $22K. The car was really nice. I stopped a couple of times, and the car was...

Scored me a Crown Coupe !

It's amazing how nice the interior is, and also the fact that there's no rust, considering the manner in which the car was sitting for a long time.

Scored me a Crown Coupe !

Wow, considering where that car was stored all these years, it looks really good. The bumpers look great. Engine bay looks good. Buffing that paint out is going to be a labor of love and I bet it's going to look great! Looking forward to more pictures.

    I finally bought an Imperial

Very well bought!! I'm nearly as jealous as the '67 Imp Crown for $6969 on BAT a short time back. BTW, I took the '67 Newport across the state to visit with the in-laws over in Cocoa Beach this week. She ran great at 70-75 over and back, and the 383 2bbl got 15mpg. It's funny, when I drive...

1969 Imperial I may be pulling the trigger on today

Knowing what I know now, after re-habbing my great '67 Newport Custom, and my very nice '65 New Yorker, I'd have to pass on this Imperial. I only paid $1250 for the Newport, but I've put a LOT of work and another 7K into the car, and that does not include any body or paint work. I'm not...

    New Guy With A 65

Welcome new guy! I was the new guy about 2+ years ago, and these fine gents on this site have been invaluable in helping me with that 67 Newport. Now I have a "new" '65 New Yorker they are helping with. You are in good company my friend.

Amp meter bypass for 1967 Imperial

I opened up the dash and took both wires off the ammeter and bolted them together, and then taped the crap out of them. Then, I also pulled a new wire from the alternator, through a 12" piece of fusible link wire ($15 at the auto electric shop), and in to the starter relay. Both of these ideas...
