The switch change was done in 1974.

An additional note, The switch is different between Tilt, and Non tilt steering columns.

What size engine do you have? All V8'S have the same firing order, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, but small block has clockwise distributor rotation, while big block has counter clock wise.

I did this swap before. You need the correct flex plate and torque converter, IE, 318 TO 727. linkage should be ok. You will need to have the driveshaft shortened.

That is the way the trunks came from the factory. Speckle paint.

Also check your antenna connections. You can get FM, with a bad one, but not AM.

You need to lay your hands on the electrical schematic for the wipers. If I remember correctly, the three speed system always has a hot feed to the motor, and all other functions are controlled by different grounds.

The 1969 Newport I owned back in the day was the last car I had with front drum brakes. And yes they were extremely touchy.

I feel for them, that happened to me many years ago. Went out on a Saturday night, came home and the house was totally gone, I thank the police officer who dragged my parents out. Glad they are OK.
