I personally prefer removing the regulator and motor out from the door as 1 piece. The regulator is under a LOT of tension from the spring. So I clamp it down and replace the motor. I get to keep all 8 fingers and 2 thumbs.

Check to make sure the blinker has good ground, check for power before condeming the bulb. Sometimes a little cleaning of contacts and the fender goes a long way Pull the bulb and check for continuity with a multi meter. Otherwise top up the blinker fluid. Lol !

Did you re- attach the ground wire at the column? It can be easily overlooked and can cause symptoms you are experiencing. Simple stuff first.
