    1961-63 Stock ride height?

I completely concur with the "drawn art" of the time inconspicuously doing some work on proportions. GM and Buick seemed to be the masters of that art in the middle 1950s! Which is why looking at PHOTOGRAPHS instead is what should be sought out and found. Whether it is the top of the rocker...

    1961-63 Stock ride height?

Perhaps the best thing to do is to look at actual photographs of the cars when they were new to see where an imaginary line from the bottom of the rocker panel extends to the wheel cover, which can be done with the front and rear wheel covers. As to the rear springs, it is perfectly normal...

    Wheel bearing and operating temp?

Adjustment procedures are covered in the Fastory Service Manual. Nothing magical, just pay attention to "dragging sounds" and how easy the wheel turns. The brake shoe/drum calipers I mentioned make it very easy with consistent results on each wheel. CBODY67

    Wheel bearing and operating temp?

As to the wheel bearing, new or not, it is best to err on the side of bieng a hair loose than too tight, period. There is a procedure to use in the FSM, as i recall, that mentions "seating the bearing" and then backing off that adjustment to get a free-spinning wheel. ANY time a drum is...

Draining tranny fluid ...no easy way?

When I was getting ready to change the oil in my zero turn, I looked at electric suction pumps. Bought one off Amazon for abt $30.00 USD back then. THEN I discovered I could have bought one at the local Home Depot for the same function! Works great! Can be used on engines and transmissions...

    69 Imperial trim tag location

There is NO "trim tag" as GM used, but a DATA PLATE (usually affixed to the fender edge of the lh frt fender screwed onto the front wheel house stamping. Usually about the middle of the peak of the wheelhouse stamping. You can get a "decode" of what codes are where on the plate, plus lots of...

    Speedo pinion disconnect?

In general, the "open" part of the seal points toward the oil being sealed. The "closed" side goes to the housing side of things. In MANY cases, the speedo cable has a "flat retainer" that keeps the cable from going further into the housing on the speedometer side of things. Pull from there...

    ‘65 Imperial C Body Confusion

From what I can see, the pre-'67 Imperial platform dates back to 1957, when it was "fully modern" in all aspects. Most probably a lengthened version of the "full-size" platform of the pre-UniBody car? There were NO cars other then "full-size" at that time. In those earlier times, for many...

    63 Imperial PCV hose routing?

Perhaps the oil rings are all gummed-up? Compression rings stuck and/or worn from poor oil change intervals or cheap motor oil? Miles on the engine? Is the oil smoke worse at idle or does it get worse with the engine under load (i.e., as in torqueing the engine against the foot brake)? Might...

    63 Imperial PCV hose routing?

Update:: on page 14-30 of the 1963 Chrysler and Imperial Factory Service Manual (via www.mymopar.com (might need to input that website address manually), there is an illustration of the factory pcv system, with explanation in paragraph 23 down on the page. In the picture of the Carter AFB carb...

    63 Imperial PCV hose routing?

Was this car registered in California at any point in time? Most of what I see looks to have been added AFTER it left the factory, which makes me suspect it might have been "treated" to the California requirements. Is there a road draft tube somewhere on the engine? If so, it probably would...

    Starter recommendations

There are a few threads in here of which OEM-style replacement starters to look for. One issue is the location of the cable connections, but there's also a kit for that, it seems. NO need for a Powermaster or similar, on a stock engine.
