    Cruse control

Replacing the switch is probably the only practical solution. That's not too bad to do.

    Alternator Brushes

That's the big advantage right there. I've changed those rectifiers in minutes. The soldering on the round backs isn't that bad, but the wires are often too short to trim (like from previous rebuilds) and then everything has to be pressed in and out.

    Cruse control

I purchased a tilt/teloscopic steering column off 9f ebay. Even thou the steering column was well packaged, the shipper managed to brake the cruse control switch. (See pics) Is this a simple fix?

    What is your dream car?

To many that I love but 300 letter cars from 57-62. 59 caddy coupe and 1970 Vit-c orange/black hemi/4spd Superbird would be my ultimate choice.

Charging troubles: Ammeter bad? 1964 Chrysler

I suspect either a short circuit in your lighting circuits or the headlight switch itself. You mention seeing a significant current draw when you use these lights. For a 1964 car, you probably should have a fairly low ampacity alternator and charging circuit, given that high current...

    Alternator Brushes

FYI... For the 1972 models, the rear end shield of the Chrysler alternator was redesigned in the informally termed "square back" style. The end shield contained a different mounting for the rectifiers and capacitor and connected to the stator without soldering. This change simplified assembly...

    Interesting read

I found a picture of it on Google maps. It's now an auto spa. It sure looks a lot smaller than I remember but it was 50 years ago I worked there.

Charging troubles: Ammeter bad? 1964 Chrysler

It's not your ammeter, you stated a slight charge and a substantial discharge in your first post. That shows that the ammeter is working. Too many are scared shitless of an ammeter, mostly because they don't know how electrons work or how an ammeter works. Overall, the Chrysler ammeter is...

Charging troubles: Ammeter bad? 1964 Chrysler

Does it stay low if you raise the engine RPM. Alternator test should not be done at idle. Need to raise RPM to 1200 for testing. Here is a test. Disconnect green field wire from regulator. With car running at 1200 RPM and a volt meter across the battery you can read, or a helper inside to...

Charging troubles: Ammeter bad? 1964 Chrysler

Good day gents (ladies too!) I am experiencing charging troubles on my low miles 1964 Chrysler Newport. It's max rate of charge, per the ammeter, reads just above the center (neutral) line. If I turn on the blinkers, push on the brakes, or turn on the headlights, the ammeter plummets well...
