Going back to the A48 code, @69CoronetRT has interesting new information here that the code meant different things at different points of the 1969 model year.

Here's something I found... There is a name change to A48 sometime in late August of 1968. Here are two different invoices from the same car plus an invoice from a different car. The 8/16 invoice lists A48 as PROTECTION GROUP The 9/4 and 10/28 invoices lists A48 as POLARA DECOR GROUP...
