    Carburetor Fuel Evaporation

I had similar symptoms on my 73 Imperial and thought I had carb evap going on, but then on closer look realized the line was pretty much dry at the fuel filter. So i replaced the fuel pump on theory that an internal FP diaphragm was bad and allowing fuel to run “downhill” from carb and voila...

    New to HVAC systems

To clarify - you DO want to torque the fitting SLEEVE coming from the firewall connection (ie, you want to turn the sleeve rather than trying to just turning the expansion valve that fits into the sleeve) but not twist/bend the pipe. I've heard that you need to be extra careful with EV removal...

    New to HVAC systems

For comparison, here’s my 73 Imperial with a single expansion valve - no rear AC system. The liquid line is removed because I’m also in the middle of trying to resurrect the ATC II system. Also for what it’s worth - I had a hell of a time getting the EV off. Used about half a can of PB blaster...

Thermal Ignition Control (TIC) Valve - do I need it?

In process of changing out thermostat and hoses, I noticed this crusty old vacuum valve which the Google machine tells me is called a Thermal Ignition Control Valve or TIC valve. I found a paragraph on it in the FSM and apparently it's intended to add advance/increase idle speed if the engine...

What did you do to your C-body today....

Out with the old and in with the new. Thanks to all the wisdom posted on this site, even a low-experience amateur like me (or noob as my kids would say) can figure out how to fumble his way through a fuel pump replacement.

Has anyone tried to steam clean their vinyl top?

I decided to give the Gojo method a try and ended up using Gojo for first pass, then a magic eraser pad, then 303 to finish it off. Probably wouldn’t have used the magic eraser (or anything else abrasive) if my top was any color other than white but it worked pretty well in my situation...

What did you do to your C-body today....

AZ is a “rear only” license plate state and I couldn’t find something to go in the front that I liked, so I cobbled this together and printed/laminated it for the front plate spot. Might not survive a wash but it never rains here so at least that’s not a concern haha.

    Old Red now in AZ

I’m happy to report that after a 2100 mile cross country trip from North Carolina (in a trailer), the ‘73 known as Old Red is now safe and sound here in Arizona. What a fabulous car. And I even got an unexpected break with one of the known squawks, passenger side power seat nonfunctional...

1972-73 IMPERIAL FOR SALE Tracker starting NOW into INFINITY.

Very happy to be the next in line to own the 73 Imperial (aka Old Red). Following up on something mentioned in one of the previous posts, I aspire to be the kind of good-steward owners that both @My65cuda and @DocMcNeedy have been to this car. I think it's clear that both of them went above...

    Welcome, JMC85284

Yep that's me and thanks. I basically violated every "rule" that I set for myself over the years about buying vehicles, but this was one of those times that I just knew that I'd seriously regret letting it get away for a few thousand bucks. Looking forward to being another good caretaker...
