Got a couple photos of the block pad by the distributor, appears to say J440 cross and then 2 12 E2. And the VIN stamped by the oil rail is 3C226448. Any ideas?

Hey y’all, I’m in the process of getting a new to me 440 ready to go in my 73 Fury gran coupe. One of the last pieces of the puzzle is headers. I’m having a hell of a time finding headers that A, aren’t $1000+. And B, fit C bodies without having to hammer them to hell. Any recommendations?

Yeah that’s what I assumed. Heads are still on, haven’t had a chance to get to work in a couple days. Rear drivers side drum is locked up so it’s currently sitting outside my garage, go figure!

Here’s a potentially silly question. Will I have any issues priming the oil pump without the heads on the engine? I want to flow some oil to help things move, but I don’t know what the hell I’m doing I figure I’ll just get some oil loss from the top of the block?

Been shopping around for quotes on a valve job, well known local shop quoted me $750 to get the heads surfaced, pressure tested and a valve job. Likely gonna pull the trigger on that shop, sound reasonable to the more experienced?

I was very skeptical of the 7k miles but the body is very straight, the manifolds are rust free, the pedals/carpet have 0 wear, etc etc. Funny you should mention the flex hone, I actually have one on order just in case!

I can handle this. Hopefully a valve job and a hone is all it needs

To add, would y’all still recommend trying to get it to turn over after the heads are pulled? Have the heads done over? Where would y’all go from here? This is my first go of a revival so this is all new to me!

Alright it’s decided, I’ll yank the heads. I can only currently work on it once a week as it’s stored in a buddies garage an hour from my house, but I’m hopefully moving it to my garage next weekend. I’ll update everyone asap
