    Factory Radio Wiring Question

Like many of us, my 1972 Newport has an AM only mono radio. It also has the fader and rear speaker. I recently picked up a factory AM/FM radio. The problem is, the output wires are stereo. Is there a way to wire it into the original setup without frying anything?

    Reproduction Tires

How have your experiences been with reproduction bias-ply tires? When I get my 72 Newport back together, it will need a new set of tires. I like the ride of Hankook tires on one of my other cars, but i'm not a fan of how they look. I've been looking at Coker tires this time...

    Non-Mopar Wagon I Picked Up

I originally posted about this wagon wanting to pass on the original tires to someone's perfect car. 75LandYacht inquired more about it, and I figure others might be interested too. It's a 1978 Ford LTD Wagon, started out life as a "promotional" car. Used by Ford to send different places to show...

For Sale Anyone interested in a set of 1978 Goodyear polysteels?

Not long ago I bought a completely original climate control kept 1978 ford station wagon. 3 tires and the spare are original. They survived a 4 hour road trip home, although I would recommend these for limited road/show only use. 3 Goodyear polysteel radial 235/75/15 and 1 polyglas bias ply...

Tar leaking out of voltage regulator

I was taking out my wiring harness to have it replicated, and noticed this. Sticky tar originating at the voltage regulator dripped all the way onto the transmission bell housing and trails back. Anyone ever seen this before?

    Original cam part # for a 72 400

Does anyone know the original camshaft part number for a 1972 400 engine? Or, suggest a good OE grind camshaft? I am thinking about using a new old stock camshaft in my "factory fresh" engine build to cut down on the chance of wipeout from Chinese metal. Plus I liked the very smooth idle I had...

Looking for advice on valves, lifters etc.

1972 Chrysler Newport with 400 engine. Completely factory original with 80,000 miles on it. I had a moment of teenage dumbassery when I dropped a screw into the exhaust port for the choke and couldn't find it. A week or two later it started knocking. I've started disassembling the engine, and...

    Odd master cylinder issue

1972 Chrysler Newport. Yesterday, some genius pulled out in front of me and I had a hard stop. "BRAKES" idiot light came on for a second then went away. I pulled into a parking lot, and started simple. I checked fluid first. It is a dual master with power disc brakes. When I checked fluid, the...

    Suggestions on coughing/stalling

1972 Newport. Yesterday, I took a trip to the hardware store. Ran very smooth, except on the way back. Over the course of about 6 miles, it started coughing more and more. It almost acted like vapor lock, when I started it this morning, it was still having trouble so I don't believe that is it...

Gas always splashes out at the pump

1972 Newport. Every time I fill her up with gas, a little bit splashes out when the tank is full. The pump doesn't kick off fast enough. If I listen real close I can hear when it gets near the end and slow down, but it seems to always not stop until it comes out. Is there any remedy for this?

    Ignition coil polarity

1972 Chrysler Newport. I made the dumb-head mistake of taking out the ignition coil without looking at witch wire went where. Based on the curvature of the wires, it looks like the + side went to the distributor, and the - side to the firewall. Is this correct?

    Keeping vinyl tops soft

Today I poured a new bottle of conditioner into my waterbed. The thought crossed my mind, this stuff is supposed to keep the vinyl soft right? Has anyone here ever considered using it on their vinyl top?

Is it possible to grease front bearings without dissassembling everything?

1972 Newport. I'm fairly sure that my front wheel bearings are in need of grease. Is there any possible way to add grease without taking all of it apart? Would a grease gun with a needle make it possible?

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

1972 newport, was running really smooth, but I was having trouble with misfire on startup. I replaced the points and the misfire is gone. Gapped to .017 and timing is correct. However now the engine kind of "Surges" It speeds up and slows down small amounts on idle, and about once a minute...
