Need positive cable length '68 Fury

I'm having a custom positive battery cable built for my '68 Fury ll with a 318. Need cable length from battery to starter. The part number for the positive cable is 2926 086 and the official parts catalog does not list a length (they only list a length for the negative-28") Don't want to...

    '68 Fury washer nozzles

Any idea if these bad boys will fit/work with my '68 Fury ll? Windshield Washer Hose and Nozzle Kit Electric 1967-1974 A-Body My whole washer kit (reservoir, hoses, nozzles) are gone-ski. From what I've found listed as used c-body nozzles it looks like these may work. Just hoping to get a...

Are these plug wire holders available??

I have 4 of these tabs on my valve covers and am wondering if there's an O'reilly's part that attaches to these to hold the plug wires or is this more like a zip-tie scenario? I've looked online but don't see an obvious match. Motor is an LA 318.

    Looking to raise front end

Front suspension is an area where I know nothing. I'd like to raise the front end of my '68 Fury 4-door. When we go over speed bumps everyone except the driver has to get out of the car or we bottom-out. I LOVE the soft, swaying boat like handling. Don't want to change that. I've read...

    Bad Timing Cover Bolts...

I recently replaced my timing chain and when I went to install the timing cover I realized my bolts all seemed too long- I'd had everything pulled apart for about a year before re-installing the cover again. Some of the bolt ends did look a little rough... I was scrambling with the gasket...

    Looking for a little help...

Well, Two steps forward, three steps back!! Had a very nice and fine trunk sheet metal replacement job done on my "68 Fury ll. No more dust sneaking through dust holes, all sealed up with a Rhino-liner type equivalent product. Thick metal. All good. Only problem is when I tried to...

Alternative Port for Aftermarket Temp. Gauge, 318?

I have a '68 Fury II with a 2bbl 318. I have an aftermarket electric temperature gauge that I'd like to install and also keep the use of my existing gauge. My water pump doesn't seem to have an extra port like I've seen posted for some guys' 383's and I don't see an obvious place on the...

Need battery tray size, '68 Fury

Sounds silly- why the $&#@ don't you just go measure it? The car is not with me and I'm going to visit it real soon w/ a new battery and need to know if it'll fit. Car is a 1968 Fury ll w/ 318. Inside of tray dimensions would be great- ie 11" x 7"... Thanks!!

    the bozo backwards battery blunder

I'm not even going to start to explain that it wasn't actually me who hooked up my battery backwards (positive lead to ground and vica-versa) cuz there isn't anyone who would actually believe that! Let's just say it happened. There was initially a very wrong smelling stink followed by a mini...

Dont wanna burn up my car

I've been seeing off and on about an inherent problem with how the charging system runs too much current through the ammeter under certain conditions leading to a potential fire. I followed a link to "Nacho's' "Some considerations about the charging and wiring upgrade..." Wow...

    Engine ID?

trying to get to the bottom of what year engine I've got. So far there are several clues but we haven't been able to crack the code. -We have blue paint. It seems to be lighter blue indicating "turquoise", but it's so faded and rusty it's hard to tell for sure. -We have what we think is a...

    timing chain cover saga, revisited...

Well, I'm in the process of replacing my timing chain and after removing the cover I realized I had a little hole in the surface behind where the water pump lives. I had that hole repaired but the Hack welder who did the repair for me took it upon himself to grind the excess weld off the mating...

antifreeze or no- long term storage...

Well, that's pretty much my question. I have a '68 Fury that's sat for too long that I've started to resuscitate. In the process of my restoration I've been completely derailed (timing chain cover issues, virus bs, homeschooling duties and a plethora of other distractions) and have had to...

    Timing chain cover question

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the tolerance for my timing chain cover surface? I have it off the vehicle and had to repair a hole. The weld went onto the flat mating surface of the water pump and was ground off by hand with a handheld grinder. The surface is nowhere near perfect...

    Looking for an undercarriage photo

Does anyone have an undercarriage photo of a '68 Fury showing the oil pan area/front steering components? I have looked online and can't find one. I have the big shop manual and the drawings of the steering linkage aren't great. A photo would be greatly appreciated.

'68 Fury w/318 oil pan gasket- any easy way to do this??

I am planning to change a leaking oil pan gasket in my 68 Fury. My shop manual says: -remove engine torque converter left housing -remove steering and idle arm ball joints from steering linkage center link -remove exhaust cross-over pipe from exhaust manifolds and leave it hanging without...

16lb rad. cap too much for heater core?

Well, that title is pretty much my question. Just bought a new aluminum radiator which is supplied with a 16lb. cap. My shop manual states, "7-12 psi". My concern is whether or not the 16 lbs. of pressure might cause a leak in my (original) heater core. any thoughts?
