    When to replace transmission bands?

I have a newbie trans rebuild question…how do tell if you need to replace the two bands in an unknown condition 727? Some backstory, i acquired a transmission that has been sitting for a bit and i am going through it doing a refresh with new seals and clutches. It is supposed to be a good unit...

    1964 rear end swap

I know this has been asked before, but is there a definitive first hand experience direct bolt in swap for these axles? I have been searching locally for a while now and the best i have come across is a 67-69 imperial rear end that is 46 1/8 center to center on the springs and 55 5/8 flange to...

Vacuum leak only when engine is “cold”?

I have a 361 with a weiand 8008 aluminum intake manifold. I have checked my brake booster for leaks, even disconnected every vacuum line from the carb and plugged them. I seem to have a vacuum leak i cannot find still but only when the engine is relatively cold. Stone cold, start the engine...

Mancini Billet Pro Series Distributor...anyone use this before?

Has anyone used one of these before and can speak to it's quality? For the price it seems a bit too good to be true, an all in one billet distributor. I do see you can buy replacement caps and rotors for it from them which is good. I am currently using my original points distributor with a...

Big vacuum drop/lean spike when shifting into gear, cause?

I am having an issue with my '64 Newport, 361, 727 torqueflite auto. Everything is stock except for the 4 barrel Holley street warrior 600 and intake manifold. The car drives fine when it is in gear, idles fine 14AFR, has 21-22 inHg at idle (neutral), in steady state has 18inHg idle in gear...

    1969 383 mate up to a 1964 727?

Would a 1969 383 mate up to a pushbutton 1964 727 torqueflite that's currently on a 361 without any issues? I heard there were changes to the trans or torque converter for 65+ (if that's even true).

servicing pitman and idler arm ball joints?

on my '64, the ball joints for the idler arm and pitman arm on the steering link do not have grease points or boots on them and I could not find anything about servicing them in the fsm. Are these are not meant to be serviced? Seems odd that these would not be serviceable but the tie rod joints...

    Mmm.... Sludge

Got the oil pan off to inspect the underbelly of the engine on my '64. ...gross... The pickup tube is basically completely clogged, probably explains the lower oil pressure (25psi) and noisy valve train on startup, taking a while to get oil up to the top (that's what I'm going to keep thinking...

64 newport engine side heater box

Might be a stupid question...but can the engine side heater box be removed without disconnecting anything? Do the coolant hoses have to come off? I really just want to pull it away from the firewall enough to clean the crud out. Service manual doesn't have good pictures or procedures for this (I...

Chasing another leak around the heater/cowl

I have two more leaks I suspect are coming from the cowl or heater/fresh air plenum box on the firewall. The heater core is not leaking, it's only rain water coming in. On the driver side it seems to be coming in somewhere over the trans tunnel and pooling down by the gas pedal. On the passenger...

Rear Quarter Windows Area Interior leak

'64 2 door Newport. I have a leak on both sides in the interior at the bottom area of the rear quarter window panels. Water on the passenger side is coming through at the bottom back corner of that area, and the driver side water is coming from under the middle of the interior panel there...

Where is this water coming from?

Anyone experience water coming in at the edges of the dash by the corners of the windshield? I can't seem to see where it's coming from.

What holds these trim pieces in place?

What holds the roof rail trim pieces in place in the interior? I don't see any screws. (The painted, well rusted in this case, pieces that run along the door opening and down the rear side windows). 64 2 door newport.

'63-64 Two Door Rocker Sill Plates

Anyone have any or have a lead on a pair? Mine have corroded away around the interior edges. For a Newport, but any sill that would fit will work for me.

    Shift Knob Type?

what would you call this type of shift knob that has a rectangular slot and is held in place with a set screw? Trying to find an aftermarket one but they all are the threaded type or round with set screws and not for rectangular shift levers.

1964 push button to 1965 console shifter

Looking at the push button mechanism and comb on that and the comb the 1965 floor shifters, they appear to be either the same or very near the same in terms of spacing of the notches, cable connections, and it looks like you could swap to the floor shifter without much difficulty? Either...

    Shotgun Adjustments, Now Troubles

Hi guys, I got a '64 361 mopar engine that is entirely stock other than a holley street warrior (4160) 600CFM carb, weiand 8008 intake, and 440 heads. It has a push button auto with 2.76 gears. I had it running ok at factory specs, 12 degrees of BTC timing, and the carb adjusted just using the...
