71' plymouth fury 440, what rear gear?

Digging around and found this really old thread. Turns out my car was an open 3.23 rear. Now a 3.23 w/ dr diff suregrip. And instead of changing the rear ratio, i replaced the front planetary and sungear in the torqueflite for 2.77 1st gear. Essentially like swapping to a 3.6:1 ratio in the rear...

    Engine run stand, which flywheel?

I've got a fresh 440 engine i want to fire up on an engine run stand. It's internally balanced. I've also got an empty 727 case I'm going to use behind it , for something to mount the starter to. The starter is a new early 90s style mini starter (like used on a dakota). Now a flywheel. Do i...

BIG Block Engine pics.... Lets see them!

Not in my car yet. Engine was originally intended for my '71 318 civi car. Started with just a 73 cast 440 block. .010 under steel crank, .030" over six pack pistons .010" in the hole. 440 source rods with arp bolts, mopar performance top end, lunati voodoo 10230702/60302 cam, stainless roller...

Daily driver gear ratio 8 3/4 rearend

If you don't mind opening up the transmission, you could go 3.23 sure grip and install a low gearset in the trans, like i did. With a 2.77:1 1st gear, it's like having a 3.6:1 rear ratio on take off. Still have good cruisability with 3.23s. Simple matter of changing out the front planetary and...

    OD for 71 Fury

Just thought I'd chime in. My '71 Fury has the 440/727 combo. I went with 3.23s and a DrDiff Suregrip. The 727 I'm having upgraded with a low gearset from A&A transmission. It changes the 1st gear from 2.45 to 2.77 and i believe 2nd from 1.45 to 1.54. 3rd 1:1 with 3.23s will still give good...

    440/727 Flexplate?

Originally i was going to buy one of those, but have read that to run one you need to check that the trans input and engine crankshaft are centered with each other within a certain tolerance. If not it would prematurely wear trans pump bushing. Have you ever heard this?

    440/727 Flexplate?

I'm at a bit of a dilemma here fellas. I have a fully rebuilt engine and transmission. Car of subject is my '71 Fury 4 dr sedan. Engine dyno'd at 410 horsepower, trans has 22-2400 stall converter, shift kit, rear is 3.23s. I purchased an ATP flexplate with the correct 6 bolt crank, 10" spaced...

I'm thinking the factory 346 heads reworked, mopar restoration cam, just have to figure out which pistons. I may reuse the stock rods, the motor doesn't have a terrible amount of miles on it. I have an edelbrock 750 on it currently, may reuse that too.
