Lots of info on the listing, looks promising! I didn't know these VRs existed before.

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Hey Stubs, not sure how to answer that - maybe some of both?! This is from the ebay listing and description: Mopar Voltage Regulator - Electronic Solid State with Correct Restoration Look This is a direct replacement for the factory mechanical voltage regulator. It uses the same connectors...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Yeah, same results with direct charging wire from ALT to starter relay removed. I think I will try to start from scratch after getting FuryGT's VR. Thanks for everyone's help!

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Yes, I made the jumper connection with the car off. The more I think about it the more I think it must be this action I took that was causing the short circuit symptom: Set up direct charging wire (10 AWG, with crimped 14 AWG fusible link) going from ALT BATT post to starter relay batt post to...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Thanks John, that all makes sense to me, but doesn't the iron (or field) that the wire is wrapped around have to provide some kind of load to draw current? Otherwise, the 12 volts DC goes straight to ground and creates a short, with sparks and excitement. That is exactly what happened when I...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Hmmmm, I think that makes sense, John, with the wire concept. I think that one end, or terminal, is supposed to show positive, and the load is in the middle (brush, slip ring, wire), and the other end, or terminal, is negative, whether that is the case itself or an external terminal in my case...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Thanks, Stubs, that link you provided on the Imperial site matches a diagram I was looking at for the newer style alternators, which seems to indicate that one of the alternator field terminals should be positive and one negative. Both of mine read negative.

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

I have old points on this car, newer style "isolated field" alternator (post-1970), and old style mechanical regulator. I just bought a replacement from FuryGT. No electronic ignition. John, I appreciate your help, but think I must still be misunderstanding. Are BOTH the FLD, and the GND...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Yup, that was me that just bought that VR. I do see a few spots on the back of the VR that look burnt (see attached photo). I can't figure out how that might make the ALT FLD show as grounded, which seems like it might be a second different issue. But in any case, I'll put on the new VR, might...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Thanks Thanks, John. I actually could NOT do the test you mentioned, because my ALT FLD reads grounded with a test light (which seemed wrong to me), so connecting it directly to the 12V output results in an exciting pyrotechnical display. The test you laid out for me confirms my thinking that...

Assistance, please, in diagnosing charging system.

Hey guys, can y'all please point me in the right direction on this? On my 66 Imperial, I am having an undercharging issue, with just under 12 volts at idle, just over 12 volts at high RPM. This measurement reads the same at the ALT battery post and directly at the battery. Below I've outlined...

What's the name of this pedal part (and anyone have a spare for sale)?

Thank you! Very funny, Murray said "Yeah. I know that piece. It's kind of like.....a lever." Exactly!

What's the name of this pedal part (and anyone have a spare for sale)?

Solid suggestion. I called, he knew exactly what I was talking about, I bought one, and its on the way.

What's the name of this pedal part (and anyone have a spare for sale)?

On a 66 Imperial, this is the piece that the gas pedal bolts onto. I believe it links to the auto pilot. My gas pedal started getting kind of sloppy, sliding left and right, and after investigating I found that this piece was to blame, with the metal dowel perpindicular to the main piece having...

What type of windshield trim clip am I missing?

Guys, any assistance appreciated. See photo of my 66 Imperial Crown windshield trim . Why is this trim loose? What type of clip am I missing, and any clues where I might find one? Thank you!

Experience Replacing Power Steering Pressure Hose - Gates or NAPA?

Hey Ross and Jer, thank you guys for the info! I was talking about the pressure line, but had included a photo of the pump because I was thinking there were a few different styles of PS pumps on these cars. Appreciate all the info you guys shared - definitely will have that new hose routed away...

Experience Replacing Power Steering Pressure Hose - Gates or NAPA?

Thanks so much, CBODY67, for that info. As dumb as it might sound, didn't occur to me to check the FSM for hose routing! Yeah, I noticed a definite red tint in the fluid squirting out, so am pretty sure that the previous owner had put in ATF.
