What other brand cars has your car been misstaken for??

That's great! I'll have to try that one next time.

What other brand cars has your car been misstaken for??

I'm usually not a nice guy when approached about my cars in public. I don't care about "educating the public" or "reliving their memories". I'm usually just trying to get gas or run an errand. About the only exception is if someone calls out using the right make or model such as "Hey, nice...

Wondering about future value of C body cars

Several have touched on similar points already in this thread, but here's my opinion anyway. Select original survivors and fully restored C bodies have increased in some value. That increase has been because of the higher prices and lower availability of the more desirable cars (muscle cars...

    Oil filter Vs Sway bar

Ha, not in this one. It's a boulevard cruiser. I do live in an industrial area with an above average amount of railroad tracks and manhole covers so it does get it's share of bumps.

    Oil filter Vs Sway bar

Anyone ever have this happen? Drove the '68 Newport today to get gas and saw a very steady stream of oil pouring out. Turns out I was missing the underside washer on the bushing for the driver side bracket. It allowed the sway bar to raise up enough to puncture the oil filter. I've owned a...

The Right Car and the Right Deal. . .

Long trip in a relatively unknown older car? Cash, credit card, AAA membership, and a cell phone (in that order). All the other things mentioned in this thread sound nice but I always end up with Murphy riding in the passenger seat.

    New Member from Bavaria Germany

Technically it would fit on the skirt but it's not even close for 1967 New Yorker trim. He will need one that looks like this

    '67 New Yorker Ideas

If it was a four door then yeah, do the hubcaps and whitewalls. On my two door, I prefer American Racing wheels with black wall tires.

LCAs, hood insulation and rear seat

Thanks, Stan! I've owned 4 Fast tops, and 4 sedans over the years. My Fast tops all had buckets seats and the sedans all had bench seats so that's where I mixed it up. I forgot about front bench seats in a 2 door.

LCAs, hood insulation and rear seat

The 2 doors models - Newport/New Yorker/300 all have the lower middle on the rear seat. The sedan seats are flat across the top. You have a 4 door rear seat in your 2 door car. You can get a donor rear seat from a 2 door 67-68 Newport, New Yorker, or a 300. The frames are the same. The...

Question of the Day: Transport Brokers - Great Service or Disaster Waiting to Happen?

I've used brokered transport 4 times in the past 10 years. The very first one (2005) was a nightmare. I paid a deposit upfront and then it took 2 months and the start of a credit card dispute before they picked it up. By that time I had already contacted another company and paid them a deposit...

    383 vs 413

The 413 is also a RB "Raised Block". The only difference is the pistons. I've personally rebuilt 413's and used every part from a 440 except those pistons. The 383 is a B "Low Block". There are many differences between parts on a B block and a RB block.

    383 vs 413

413's are the same as a 440 except with a smaller bore size. Pistons for 413's can be hard to find and also expensive. All other parts are interchangeable with 440's. 383's use a shorter stroke than the 413/440. Plenty of power, and parts are as common as expected for Mopars. Here's a couple...

Starter w/ solenoid needed for '67 Newport

Starter is as easy as you think. The oil pan gasket isn't too bad by itself but you'll have to raise the motor a few inches to get it in there. Good time to check idler arm and inner tie rods.

    Sudden jump in value

I don't see how you can compare value of the car from your other thread to this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/321782873868 This is a beautifully photographed, great looking, 2nd owner car that appears to have 47K miles. I believe it is an anomaly in the market and it's price reflects that. The...

'68 Newport convertible project car valuation?

That fake wood paneling may be unique or rare but am I the only one that thinks it looks down right hideous? On top of that, it completely ruins the design of the concave sides.

    1968 2 door rear windows

It starts at the lower corners first due to the angle of the window. I've personally had 3 vinyl roof 2drs where I simply lifted out the rear glass without and cutting. 67/68's are also notorious for rust in the quarter panel directly inline with the center of the rear wheel (above the fender...
