73 Monaco Wagon blower/switch not working

Ross I saw your post yesterday. Fortuitous, I almost chimed in but didn’t want to hijack the post. Highly similar situations. I had trouble Saturday. I need to find the blower motor. Thank you for all the tips. I may end up taking this to the shop. I don’t have a lot of time these days to fiddle...

73 Monaco Wagon blower/switch not working

Having a recurring problem on my 73 Monaco wagon. Fan switch does nothing when either Max AC or AC buttons are pushed. Or nothing is pushed. Just doesn’t work, at any speed. When I push the buttons I can hear a flapper moving. I can feel just a little cool air (passive) coming through front...

    70 Newport sedan long gone

Yes that’s the label. It was either in a rear door window or the back window. I mean, hey…I haven’t seen the car since 1987…

    70 Newport sedan long gone

Would seem to me that would have been a rare factory combo, plain Jane Newport with a 440. I suspect the majority were 383’s w/2bbl, like mine. I actually had to dig around to do a search to find that ad. Somewhat obscure.

    70 Newport sedan long gone

We gave $700 for the car in summer 1983. My dad even had it re-painted for me. You look back with gratitude on the things your folks did for you. As an adult, I appreciate that meant time he spent working, earning a paycheck to pay for it.

Yes it was a cloth and vinyl bench.

    70 Newport sedan long gone

No, unfortunately no pics that I remember. BUT I remember it had an AirTemp(?) sticker on the window. I found one online that looked exactly like the one I owned, except the one in this old ad had a 440. For Sale: 1970 Chrysler Newport in Ortonville, Michigan

    70 Newport sedan long gone

I had a ‘70 Newport sedan in college. Light Blue. 383 2bbl. Tonight I found the insurance card for it. I have the VIN and thought I’d post it. I don’t think it survived the crusher into the 1990’s. I saw it parked at a gas station along the Ohio River near St. Mary’s, WV around 1989. Here’s...

I had an ‘84 BMW 318i that leaked oil. I went to a thicker viscosity oil to “stop” the leak. It was hard to start in winter! I don’t know if that kind of “cheating” would work in a Mopar engine or not. It all depends on what’s wrong. Here in the US different companies sell different products...

MJF - what did you ever decide about possibly transferring Magnum 5.2 engine into a C-body wagon? As much as we all would like for cars to be original, if you had a clean driver-level wagon that needed a power plant, there is a lot to be said for a more modern 5.2 swap. Fit up with 727 should be...

    1969-74 South African Chrysler 383

It is an attractive car. I like the styling of the seats as well. More of a driver oriented car.

It only becomes a priority if we make it a priority, that’s for sure. “Opportunity cost” - the money I spend on one thing means it’s not getting saved or spent on something else.

Also, the two tone look on the seats - are you sure it wasn’t that way from the factory? Despite the vintage promo graphics presented. The original seats in my Monaco had two tone vinyl. Side and “back of back” facings were white. Seating contact surfaces were ‘parchment’. Factory original.

The R Window switch on the dash is the same as in my Monaco wagon. What window does it actuate? The small rear coupe window motors are actuated by the switches on the door. Seems redundant…?

Good reference info. Thanks for sharing your experience. I installed a vent on RH side in place of the blocking plate.

I’ve got the same color door panels carpet and dash in a wagon. Coupe looks fantastic! PS SEM paint color for door panels I used “Phantom White” and it was very very close in shade. A good match, if you ever need it for a touch up. Works well on armrests. Yours look great so hopefully you don’t...
