Glad my comments were helpful. I know the feeling. “I think I need a sanity check on this.” It can be hard to judge, from one (dark) photo. When you sit in the car you see the steering wheel against all the colors around it, and it gives more context/background. If everything else around it is...

I think, if you are happy with it, then be happy. It looks good to me. I have little things on my C-Body car that are not “factory original”. Things get old, they wear out. You do the best you can to get what looks best and is affordable. These cars are not going to be six-figures...

If you have some time, go check out my restoration thread “73 Monaco Wagon”. There are still places in the US where you can get a complete carpet set, factory original upholstery material, etc.

Great T&C. They have good interiors. Welcome to the forum!

    Let's see some Wagons!

That’s beautiful. It’s just exactly how it was supposed to be used. Loaded to the gills. Form follows function.

One other thought. If you ultimately decide to make and apply the decals yourself from roll stock, one approach would be to remove the metal trim around the existing decals as they are on the car, and before stripping the decals off, overlay some large brown Kraft paper (like paper grocery bag...

Here is a photo of a 73, but woodgrain looks different than my 73. Dark brown is inset. I think there were three different types: Like my 73 (outline brown, inset oak) Like SwissABC (outline brown, roof & pillar brown, inset oak) Like this 73 (outline oak, inset brown ‘mahogany’)

Experiment on those wood decals. Try using hair conditioner - make sure it’s with lanolin. That might brighten them a bit, for a short period. Mechanics hand cleaner with lanolin might work too. Liquid car wax or polish might help too, if the lanolin doesn’t work? Glycerin? Think moisturizer...

One other thing about the C-Body fuselage wagons. The next time you see a Pacifica/new Voyager minivan, compare the styling. The big back pillar and the rear end “ovoid” hatch opening look similar. Heritage!

One other thing. Be VERY careful with the interior lever on the tailgate. If you activate it wrong in conjunction with the outside door handle the tailgate will fall off. It is extremely heavy and is “dangerous in the wrong hands”. Only try to open it in “Gate” mode OR “Door” mode. Do not change...

3M makes a rubber wheel specifically to remove the vinyl wrap material. Any paint shop should have one. A lot of elbow grease, you use an electric drill. Wear safety glasses (and hearing protection?). I think I went through two or three of the wheels, removing my wood grain. It was very VERY...

(Frankly I really like the faded patina of the wood grain. That’s just me.)

    72 sport suburban woodgrain

Sorry, it’s Friday pm and I am slow on the uptake! My shop has the pattern for a Monaco, but not a Sport Suburban. If you are in Canada I expect you could go to any decent wrap shop in Toronto or Vancouver or Calgary….and get it done, if they do “difficult” work. There is a wrap shop in Florida...

    72 sport suburban woodgrain

Hi - if you look over the thread that saforwardlook provided, it’ll show steps I took. I know a shop here in the US (Charlotte, North Carolina) that should be able to make - and adjust/modify for you as you wish - the woodgrain. Atlantic Wraps. Let me know if you need any recommendations. I...
