Can I use a b-body gas tank on my C body?

In 2000, there was a posting on some goofy new startup called Ebay for a used "1970 C body fuel tank". I bought it for $70 back when Ebay didn't have a return policy. I still don't know what car this tank is for. The original tank was more wide and flat. It fits and works but there was a...

Anyone know the gas line route for a 1970 440TNT with air?

Hi Alan - Is the rubber fuel line out of the pump supposed to be twisted like that? I wish my engine looked that clean. I looked at my block and you're right. That route is tight. I'm thinking it will touch/rub against the engine in some areas. Hi Ripinator - Thanks for the offer. My filter...

Anyone know the gas line route for a 1970 440TNT with air?

I think the route I have keeps the line cooler, but I got it like this and don't know if original route is better. (Coil was moved to frame near fan to keep it cool). I've looks at many pics of 440's but can't tell what the route is from pump to carb. Can someone post a clear pic or drawing...

1970 300 - Is replacing the power steering seals as easy as it looks in the pics?

So its only been 5 months, but no leaks. JB weld is still working. In my experience, for small leaks with little pressure, JB weld works for years. I tried JB weld on my leaking heater valve, but it only lasted 4 months. The heat and pressure was too much for it.

    Engine Dies

That jogged my memory Sir Dodge. I had to change my ignition switch. Would die, but I was able to start it. Good call. Could be ign switch or even a weak electrical link somewhere.

    Engine Dies

If you go with a Petronix kit, I first started with Petronix 1 which ran better than points. I figured Petronix 3 would be great, but car always ran weird. I couldn't dial it in, so I tried the Petronix 2 and works great with low ohm coil. Test for worn bushing first on old distributor...

    Engine Dies

When I changed mine to a Petronix kit, my coil got hot and died. But when it died, it blew the mufflers off with a massive backfire. Coil was sizzling. So I got rid of my ballast all together and have been running a low .6 ohm coil but high voltage of 45,000 volts with no problems for over...

1970 300 - Is replacing the power steering seals as easy as it looks in the pics?

Bummer. I saw some guy take one apart on a workbench on YT, but he said he didn't know what he was doing. Looks like once the top nut and locknut is off, (I can get to these easily), the steel dome dust cover might twist off and then get a pick to take out the O ring seal but I don't want to...

1970 300 - Is replacing the power steering seals as easy as it looks in the pics?

From the 1970 service manual. Anyone do this? I can't tell if its just leaking from the top nut or locknut or both? It looks like you just take the top nut off to replace the top seal, then the locknut to replace the O ring seal. Easy, or not? I know I'll have to play with the top nut to...

Does the position of my power steering gearbox look correct?

MrmoparCHP - I wish mine did look like that. Very clean and new. Thanks for the pics.

Does the position of my power steering gearbox look correct?

Should the gear box be centered or is it supposed to be off to one side as in pic? Car drives straight and no weird noises or wear patterns on tires. It only leaks occassionally for the last 20yrs. Leaks are weird. only half dollar size, but then about once a year, it lets all the power...

    Should I do a trans band adjustment myself on a 1970 300 727?

Finding the right spring tension took time but I do notice an improvement. (Too heavy a spring and it was pulling the idle up by itself). I've only driven it once since but 2nd the 3rd seems happy now. WOT doesn't hesitate, but I've only driven it once so maybe it'll give me grief in the...

Is this crap in the transmission pan normal?

Thanks Cbody, 69P, I'll try a small magnet and see what happens. Tranny shifts fine now, so thanks for the help.

Is this crap in the transmission pan normal?

......and should I put a magnet in it? Being a shallow pan, I'm afraid the magnet will be too close to any steel check balls or other steel components which might screw it up.

Is this crap in the transmission pan normal?

I'll try to Cbody67. Thanks everyone. So with only 750 miles per year max, mostly short drives under 20 miles round trip, I was thinking of changing trans fluid, power steering, brake and rear gear every 15yrs. I change engine oil every 2yrs (1500 miles). Does this sound right or can I extend...

Is this crap in the transmission pan normal?

Uh, oh, here we go again...hee, hee....20yrs ago another group said to use ATF+4 since it will clean better, last longer than ATF3, but then some people said they use Ford Type F and some said to mix both. Soooo, which is best for a completely stock, not rebuilt 727? I don't like feeling the...

Is this crap in the transmission pan normal?

1970 300 - I put about 500 miles per yr on this car. Mostly driving around town so not much highway. Besides the 2nd to 3rd problem I think we fixed in another post, thanks to 413, thethee, cbody67...ok, i can't list everyone but anyhow, transmission never had a smell, odd color or weird...

Thanks guys. Something moves it forward as is, but I'll add a spring and let you know.

    Should I do a trans band adjustment myself on a 1970 300 727?

I measured the distance from the Holley before I took it off and mickey mouse welded the same distance for the Thermoquad. I remember I kept driving around and adjusting the rod bolt to the point where the rod wouldn't go back any further at WOT. So shouldn't I be experiencing early shifts...
