    1966 300 Tilt/ Telescope problem

It should NOT move as far as I know. There is a spring loaded assembly that you release by pulling the tilt lever. When you position the wheel where you want it (tilt-wise), releasing the lever allows that assembly to catches on a series of cuts in a plate. The parts I believe are called -...

Front windshield trim, and dash pad

Yes, that is correct. The trim that goes under the longer trim does NOT go under the pad. It also has a slot for adjustibility under the longer piece's lowest screw.

    Steering collar removal

Mark the collar and the column at the bottom (underneath where you can't see it unless you're upside down in the seat), so you can put it back exactly the same way - it's not easy to line it up when reassembling, and it's essential to do so or the tilt and turn signal levers don't go back in...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Very interesting! I am intrigued, and there's no reason why that centre ornament couldn't hold a long enough bolt to press down on the rod to engage the telescope's clutches. How do you propose to mount the wheel? Does it fit the shaft's spline? You will also need the collar (lower cover)...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I am not sure - columns installed in 67s prior to Jan 1, 1967 may have not been collapsible. Not sure when that started. AFAIK, the 67/68 columns are otherwise identical,so it could be that the column was swapped out at some point if collapsibles came in Jan 1, 68... It could have been due...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

It did change in 68, but only on 68s manufactured AFTER Jan 1 of 68, when the changes regarding safer centre caps were implemented. I believe the wheel is otherwise identical.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Looks like you have everything but the steering wheel. Glad the rod was there. I believe the unextended length is the same.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Very true. If it's an earlier non- collapsing column, the switch is WAY easier to deal with, as it's exterior to the column on the bottom. Shee-Mar makes a 68 switch I believe.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Correct and not. :) Yes, there is a rod, however the rod is unmilled, and simply presses against expansion clutches at the bottom (deep inside the mechanism) by the action of the lock ring bolt at the top. It can fall out of the shaft if the bolt is not installed and the column is upended...

For what it's worth, you could order a painted roof too, and white was an option.

Rear seat back on sport fury

Package tray does not have to be removed. Remove the seat bottom first, then you'll see two bolts under the bottom edge of the seat back. Remove those and the seat comes out. The top of the seat has thick wires that are hooked under built in hooks in the body structure.
