    Coolant Overflow Bottle

When I was building my hot rod Newport, I made my own with a NOS energy drink bottle (24 oz), a hose clamp and some leftover braided hose/fittings. This way when the hood is open, some kid who doesn't know any better can point to it and say, "Oh cool, look! He's got NOS!" And yes, it works...

    Underhood heat

Took my Chrysler out yesterday to a local car show. It was 2 towns over so it was a real test of the mods I had made to address overheating issues I suffered the last time I went there. With a jetting change and a DIY air dam installed under the chin, the temps never peaked over 190°, so I call...

Okay, here's what I've done this weekend to alleviate the heat & overheating. 1. I rejetted the Edelbrock carb. I'm happy with the throttle response and top end so no spring changes. I did pull the primary needles (.047/.075) and replaced them with the 1st stage step up needles (.047/.073)...

I do have a clue. Several actually. But for the benefit of those reading along with similar issues themselves and maybe unwilling to ask (or the desire to show their ignorance out of fear of trolls like you), please detail for the rest of us the step by step instructions of how to troubleshoot...

Okay, I'm game. Lay it on me Commando1. Please demonstrate your knowledge base and experience. You may know more than I do. Last time I did a plug chop yielded light brown plugs. Somewhere between tan and milk chocolate colored. This was a year ago with a fresh motor and maybe 20 miles on it...

Hose Hose is new, all of them are really. Well, within the last year anyway. And yes, I made sure the bottom came with the anti-collapsing spring.

Cooper Cobra GT 255/60/15's. Mounted on American Racing Magnum 500 aluminum repops with a 1" spacer on the hub (all 4 corners). Fills in the wheel tubs nicely and the additional track width helps handling and stability.

CBody67 here's pics of my spark plug wire looms I mentioned above: The puke tank & fans: The torn felt paper between the front clip to the radiator support: And the beast it's mounted in: The radiator measures 28 1/2" wide, 2 3/4" deep and 22" tall. And if I'm allowed to...

Not at all, I'm open to suggestions. The "Expensive" rockers weren't, same cost as the aluminum ones. I went with them for a) being able to correct/compensate for the shaved heads/block decking (also saves shipping time & expense of custom push rods) and b) reduced friction and c) cost...

It tried, the 3 groove bottom pulley stopped it. It's maybe 3/16s of an inch forwards from flush. We tried to use timing tape but it won't stick. The paint on it isn't conducive to adhesive. No ****! The tires do boil but they also bulldoze the locked front tires forwards, leaves 2 pairs of...

Replacement. Original factory fan, clutch & shroud long gone before I got it. In its place was a pathetic slender electric fan that had less power than a hamster on a wheel. This was when it still bore the original 2bbl carb and it was adequate at the time, it never overheated the stock motor...

    Underhood heat

1st gear was the lowest I could find, converter listed as 400 rpm looser than stock. This big honking 4 door is heavy and was a dog at the lights with the original 2bbl big block. I wanted to give it a leg up at bottom end without sacrificing too much top end. I could have had the trans rebuilt...

Yoke? Is that the firewall cowl? There is a weatherstrip along the top that touches the hood. I know there was some black paper like substance between the front header (shell that houses the grill, lamps, and front trim) and the radiator support, it was ripped and shredded when I got it. There...

Because y'all asked, here it is: At present, there is NO thermostat. Takes longer to get hot, but it still does get hot. Maybe I will replace the rad cap, couldn't hurt, it's only $5. Present one is rated 16 psi. Fans are hotwired to the ignition circuit (via a relay of course). Full tilt...

Scenario: 73 Newport with a Musclecar makeover; rebuilt 400 with flat top Pistons, shaved heads, "Stage II" camshaft, 4 bbl, headers, MSD ignition, aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, electric fuel pump, lots of chrome, open style air filter, etc... Looks, runs & sounds badass. Dismal fuel...

Coolant coming from fuel pump area, 383

My guess is one of the exhaust manifold studs. I'm with what 413 suggested, get a bottle of baby powder, squeeze and shake it all over that area and watch where it's wet. Yanking the alternator will help, but a hand mirror & a bright flashlight can work also. It'd be helpful to have a friend...

    AC hoses

Ok guys, I have an issue. I'm rebuilding (& upgrading) a 73 Newport. Previous owner got rid of the AC (probably because it didn't work) but left the compressor intact, as the way it's laid out, the alternator needs the compressor pulley. I did manage to find a side bracket to relocate the...
