A friend of mine is a writer/photographer for Hemmings Classic Car magazine. He stopped by yesterday to photograph the T&C for a future publication. Attached are a couple of my phone pics. The professional ones are much better.

My wife and younger son joined me on the T&C’s maiden voyage to our local Bob’s Big Boy cruise night. It was an uneventful journey. The car acted like a car… which is as much a compliment as it is an insult. All old cars were new at one point in time. Some were quirky and a lot to deal with...

Hi Kevin! You have a good memory! Dad kept the car out of California for several months on a temporary Michigan title and then registered it in Nevada. He brought it into California as a used car. Lots of shenanigans!

It took six months to get the Brite Dip trim finished, but it was well worth the wait! One small piece of trim will be delivered tomorrow and then it’ll be done, except for the little issues that have come up. The thermostat seems to be stuck, there are some rattles I’d like to track down...

LST TNC (Last Town & Country) is the plate my father chose for it in 1977. It wasn’t “LAST TNC” because California only allowed 6 letters/numbers at the time.

The T&C is finally usable! It runs and drives well for a car still running Lean Burn. I’m still waiting for the “brite dip” trim to get done and I have to reinstall the trailer hitch. At least I can enjoy it in the meantime. There are a lot of fussy little things that need to be tackled, but...

    Horn Pad Removal-77 NYB

The pad is just clipped into place (no screws). There are access holes on the back of the steering wheel. Use a Phillips head screwdriver (or a dowel) and gently push the pad away from the wheel from behind. Best way to not damage the pad. Aaron

I am not going to remove the shocks. I pulled the rear bumper to access the filler panels, which needed to be removed to do the bodywork and install the wood. I have no idea how to remove them. Wish I could help.

With the engine block heater replaced and the belts tightened up, it was ready to go to a local shop that has the equipment to dial in the Lean Burn system. The drive there made a couple of things obvious. The rear air shocks need to be replaced immediately and the car runs hot. All of the...

Front suspension is rebuilt, some of the restored chrome parts are installed, and the tailgate works (as both a door and a drop down gate). Now I just need to figure out why the tailgate won’t lock. Oh, and I need to replace the leaking engine block heater plug, replace the rear shocks...

Took it on its first drive since 1984 (37 years!). It runs and drives decently. The timing, carburetor, and alignment need attention… but those are “adjustments” compared to everything else I’ve done. Aaron

It was built with the horn button. I’m sure parts were limited at the end of production. Maybe the supplier ran out of the horn button emblems? Aaron

The windows all work and the door panels are back on. Almost done!

The wood is finally done and door handles and locks are on. It will be much easier to open the doors now! I’m still waiting for the trim pieces to get back from refinishing, but there is still plenty to do.

Yes. Spinnaker white. Most of the paint is still original. I just took care of the panels that had damage and were behind the wood. Thanks!

It has been a busy summer. I repaired the dents and dings, repainted the sides, and have spent a few days installing the NOS Di-Noc wood. I have a long way to go, but I’m seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

I've been busy. Everything works, except for a short in the tailgate lock wiring. The driver side windows don't work, but it's probably due to the dried up grease. I'll get started on the last of the electrical gremlins and I'm looking forward to finishing it. Aaron

Work has been progressing, but as most of you know, you pick at one thing and eventually you have dug yourself into a deep hole! I removed the dash pad because there was a faded area. I had the color matched and dyed it back to its original color. While that was out, I figured I might as well...

I’ve been working on the body and getting the sides (behind the wood) and a couple of lower doors straight again. A big sanding block has helped! A couple of areas need some final blocking and then I’ll prep those areas for paint. Aaron
