    Power steering box recommendation/opinions?

Firm Feel would be a bargain at twice the price. Why? You'll never have to think about that steering box again, and you won't be removing a leaking Cardone that you paid for, only to have to sent IT to Firm Feel to be fixed correctly, like you should have done in the first place. But you...

    imp fuel tank lock rings

You really should include more information about your car when you ask for advice. On top of that, this forum is generally concerned with 1955 to 1975 cars, so when you're outside that limit you really should say "What should I do about my Dodge Viper's gas tank locking rings.....?" or whatever.

Yes, indeed. Without that heat shield the coupler will soon be baked. My 70 has the cylinder style that you mentioned. Removal and installation of the thing is a bit of a fiddly pain, and I imagine many were tossed aside by a mechanic working on "book time" many years ago.

But wait....was it cheap pine or a proper hardwood like maple or oak? There IS a difference!

Yep to both facts. I've used AMS before. No issues, but I did not want their $200, 50 year old coupler. The $7 Land Rover unit worked just fine after making the mods.

In that particular illustration, Number 94 is indeed the Lares 220 item. "Coupling, Steering Column Shaft" in the Mopar parts book in section 19-15-23, PN 2530541 In other illustrations in the parts books for various years, it would be any illustration number. Number 46 or 89 or whatever...

Yeah, I see those other pics. I might buy one just to see what the heck it is! I'm guessing it covers the pot coupler to keep some heat away from the grease inside. Anyone else?

What would the fender tag say?

I am not an expert on fender tags by any means, but I do know those numbers on my tag are the build or perhaps "target" date...maybe it came off the line in the wee hours of the 26th....dunno. There are a number tag decoder site on the 'net. Not all of them know everything, as the site I used...

What would the fender tag say?

This is a cool idea, and good luck with your quest. In a similar line of thought, I'll be throwing a birthday party for my Hurst on January 25th. It'll be 50 years old that day!
