Is 10W30 oil hard to find where you are?

As said earlier places like Tractor Supply have it. Traveller being their house brand. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/search/10w-30?

    Hypothetical Question

I cant disagree with those that say you can get the horsepower other ways easier and cheaper but....they are cool. Here is mine. Previous owner put it in, thus he spent the $. From an engine builder using new reproduction parts. With help Im making it run right. Gotta an older guy helping me as...

    Carb. Spacer thoughts

Phenolic spacers worked for me. 1/4" thick. About 15 deg cooler carb temp (with a IR heat gun) than before. I would have gone to 1/2" but it didnt fit under the hood. But I have the unusual luxury of a big air cleaner that holds the heat around the intake. Like the other guys are saying there...

    Opinions on ethanol treatments

I too use Walmart TC-W3 2 stroke oil in every tank. I fill a empty Stabil bottle to make it easy to measure. I didn't start this as an ethanol treatment but I'll take it. . Despite the many positive stories I was skeptical until I got 2 different older guys (than me) with 6-packs telling me it...

Fuel Line Heat Shield and Cozplay

Old thread but as a follow up all is well with my heat shield foam and fiberglass shielding. No fires, no dissolving. I tested both before trying this. It did get a little more brittle and I had to make a new junction cover when I broke one while removing it. The shielding by itself did not...

B&M ratchet shifter in 68 Fury III?

The PO for my car put in a Hurst Promatic2 It was a column shift. I don't like it and rarely "shift" just pull back for drive/auto. It does look out of place on the floor and as you said a little too racey for a big car. On the plus side it does remove linkage in the engine bay that allows...

A Lovely Old Spinster, Virgin No More!

Less aggressive... I have used one of these hose attached drain uncloggers on my engine. Does a pretty good job of reverse flushing against gravity. It build pressure in the bladder and seal itself to the sides and then shoots out a jet when the pressure is exceeded. But it doesn't lose all...

A Lovely Old Spinster, Virgin No More!

Probably overkill and will certainly get you wet but I've used these pressure washer clog hoses to free up heavy clogs in pipes big and small. The thing that makes it better than a hose are the jets that that face backwards and pull the snake in farther. I never used it on an engine but never...

    Off topic long-shot question

My self and my daughter have been to Capetown - for her it was 4 months, but that not the same as Joberg. She said her friends who are there are definitely seeing more violence in the areas you are traveling because of the political unrest. Probably avoid the late night strip club. On the bright...

    Advantage of See-Through Fuel Filters

I use this Mann filter as a prefilter on the frame rail. Took me awhile to find a small relatively course free flowing filter (200 mesh) to act as my site glass. Its not completely clear but I can see brown. Of course you can get some of the nicer looking aluminum filters with cleanable screen...

    Rear differential oil question

I used the Lucas 80w-90 before but with a newly built sure grip am using Supertech 75w-90 with additive. This is semi-synthetic and the diff builder ok'd it. Something about not recommending full synth but a blend lets you top it off with anything later on. When I change it again I'll confirm...

Fuel Line Heat Shield and Cozplay

Yes, its almost fun to work this out when its not your daily driver. But last summer I did suffer anxiety when in stop and go traffic because probably 50% of the time the car would not restart cleanly after it was turned off (or a stall). This all warrants another thread and relates to tuning...

Fuel Line Heat Shield and Cozplay

I appreciate trying to protect each other from ourselves. Its not hard to get into a project but miss the bigger picture. But in this case it was very important heat and solvents wouldn't give me problems. So I did look it up because it didn't seem like a robust product. The Crayola stuff...

Fuel Line Heat Shield and Cozplay

I have headers and was having a few summer time under hood heat issues. It was pretty obvious a little heat protection for the fuel lines was in order so I got this fiberglass wrap and pulled the lines apart. I needed to change some filters and old hose pieces so it was a good time to adjust the...

    Headman headers

I found some more references to these headers - search for 78070. Pretty good results. For the heat shield I used plain old roof flashing on a roll found in HD or Lowes. Made a cardboard model and cut it out. On the front - header facing - face I covered it with this High heat "Lava" shield...

    Headman headers

And plug wires might need to be rerouted. Mine stick out more than I would like but are probably needed. Some tighter bends would be nice for all but the rear 2 plugs

    Headman headers

PO put in the engine. I talked with him. Said no issues other than you need some someone with exhaust skill and even then they dimpled the 3" exhaust and I put some header wrap on the drivers torsion bar for insurance plus i would get a rattle with spirited driving. Passenger side no issues...

    Headman headers

Yupper, power steering. I had to add a heat shield cuz it was cooking the PS gaskets. They are uncoated and getting pretty rusty.

    Headman headers

I have these mid length Hedmans on my 440 with mini starter. Most mods can then be done on the exhaust instead of headers. There is a dimple on the exhaust to clear the drivers torsion bar. Drivers side is very close to steering box.
