They are all Factory installed Dana power lock Sure-grips.Which were first installed in 1958 and used until 1972. The Borg Warner Sure grips "cone type" began use in late 1968. Dont buy them!

When I get a chance I will look for the casting date. The engines ,transmissions and 742 center sections are in Jamestown NY.

Even if you heat weld then cool a cracked casting right. Its still a crap shoot.

The axle spline count on all 8 3/4 s is the same. The pinion yoke spline count used on all 742"s and all performance aftermarket 10. The last time I sold a Center section exactly like this one I got 525.00 for it. Must have been 5 years ago. But i wrong about the 1969 and newer Sure grips 489...

Dave it is good shape , Im selling the entire center section , not just the Dana carrier.

I,m parting this car out. What is a fair price for the stock 8 3/4 Dana power lok center section? This clutch pack sure grip has 68k miles on it. With the stock 2.96 to 1 gears .

Those gears are fine for street use.

Sounds like a needle and seat problem to me. You got some junk in there?Teflon tape, Needle hung wrong? Or to much fuel pressure. Is the tank vent open and clear?

These guys are right. Buy a good rebuildable core and rebuild it completely .
