    1968 Chrysler 300 hub caps fits 1970 Chrysler 300?

I don't believe the 1970 had the option of 14" wheels. Could you put 14" wheels on? Maybe if it didn't have disc brakes. But, 14" tires are really hard to find in that size and there are really no good options. You'd be better off sticking with the 15".

    Ride Height?

The front looks too low. I would adjust it to factory spec if someone here can tell you what that is. The rear can't be adjusted. You would have to replace the springs. I've had good luck using those shocks with coil springs built into them for raising the back. Disclaimer: if the leaf...

    Tire balancing question

Question: What ever happened to balancing the wheel right on the car? It seems this isn't done anymore. I wonder why.

    Tire balancing question

In a nutshell, yes some tires are just bad, and all the balancing in the world won't make them smooth.

    Tire balancing question

Our van had a vibration at around 60 that would go away at 70. Tires were balanced many times, only helped a little. Finally replaced the shocks and the problem was almost completely gone. Bad shocks can allow a very small vibration to grow.

    Tire balancing question

Those spin balancers are so accurate that you really should have to put only one weight per side of the tire, but if the tech isn't that skilled he might put a weight on, spin it again and find that it's still out of balance and put another weight on in another spot. It's not ideal but in my...

    Tire balancing question

The tire might be out of round. The very informative Chrysler Master Tech video I watched on the subject of troubleshooting vibrations instructed you to check the run-out of the tire with a gauge. That's something I've never seen a garage or tire store do.

    Tire balancing question

Why didn't you just take the car back to them and have them figure it out? Assuming the original weights they put on improved the balance over no weights at all, then what they did was OK. But if the original weights weren't put on right and made matters worse, then it would have been better...

Got a deadline? And need parts for a 1963 Chrysler?

Well I had a slightly similar experience. Drove my '68 Chrysler 300 to Carlisle last year, and after shutting off the engine at the hotel, I see smoke wafting out from under the hood. Now this car only has 32,000 miles and the engine was supposedly completely rebuilt by the PO, so I was not...

68 Newport, can the wheels be moved back?

I don't know if it would be an option but you can move the fenders forward. It sounds like your rims have the wrong offset. You can't move the position of wheels.

    Date Of Manufacture?

Usually the last number of the DOT code is the last number of the year, but they used to only give you one number. Newer tires show the year as the last two digits.

    Brake experiment

One thing I don't understand, I have driven 3 different 1968 Chryslers. 2 of them have the usual touchy brakes. The third one the brakes work more like a modern car--not touchy, but still stop the car well. I haven't been able to figure out what the difference is.

    Lifting the front ride height

Hmmm, I could have sworn I got that advice FROM THIS FORUM! I can remember someone saying don't crank on them when the car is sitting on the ground because they could break and the car would fall on you. Can anyone else remember hearing that warning? If not maybe I just dreamed it. It's...

    Lifting the front ride height

You will hear this a million times but be sure to heed it: DON'T CRANK ON THE TORSION BARS WHILE THE WEIGHT IS ON THEM! They can break and kill you. But yeah, adjusting front ride height is pretty simple. My best advice would be to adjust it to factory spec, for best driving comfort and tire...

    Hydraulic steering centering adjustment

My dad had a '76 Ford van. It had no power steering. He used to swear and curse every time he had to parallel park it. So, he had his mechanic install power steering. The first time I started it up, the steering wheel started spinning REALLY fast without me even touching it. Probably...

    16" steel wheels for '67 Fury 3

I've always thought 16" wheels would be the perfect size for a C-body, but I don't see many people using them. 15" looks OK, but 17" to me just doesn't look right. Forget 14"--no good tires available. I'd be very curious to know which if any factory 16" wheels will fit.

    Tire gauge

The round gauge with the long hose lasts a long time and has a button to release air so that's handy.

1968 Chrysler 300 power brake problem

Every once in a while when you press the brake pedal, it feels like there's no power assist, like the engine isn't running. You can still stop the car but have to push a lot harder. Doesn't do it every time. What can cause this? Thanks.

To stagger or not to stagger? That is the question.

You didn't mention what type of car it is, but assuming it's a C-body, OEM tire diameter was a little over 28" I think. In my estimation 235/70's would be close to stock.
