Leaf Springs or Air Shocks for sagging 197070 Chrysler 300

I agree, replace the springs, but if they ask you if you want stock ride height say you want 1/2" above stock. I got stock ride height springs and I kind of regret it, because the car is almost perfectly level with no weight in it, but any amount of weight makes it ride lower in the back than...

    hemi or not to hemi

If it was my car I'd probably just keep the small block. It's reliable and with the proper build will give plenty of power. But of course it's not gonna start and run like a modern fuel injected engine. It really comes down to how much effort/expense you want to put into it and whether you...

    Ran out of gas ugh!

Also, your fuel mileage is terrible. Not what it should be.

    Ran out of gas ugh!

Well, I think the tank is supposed to hold about 22 gallons so you should probably be able to get between 250 to 300 miles out of a tank of gas. I think what's wrong is there is something wrong with the fuel pickup in the tank not allowing you to use all the fuel in the tank.

    1970 Chrysler Newport Question

It actually looks similar to the repair a local welder made on our '76 Newport. He said those cars always rusted out the frames on the driver's side in his experience. He said you don't want to try to cut out the rusted part of the frame, just encase it in new metal. That was his solution...

Yeah my guess is some kind of shoddy repair.

    1973 Plymouth Fury

We had a 1976 Newport with the 360 2-bbl. I would say 16mpg on a trip would be reasonable.

    Strut Rods

Regarding the firm feel sway bar: it doesn't attach to the strut rods, but rather attaches to the lower control arms with included brackets. It will make your car handle better and will eliminate the wear that occurs on the strut rods. I'd recommend it for a car that gets driven frequently.

A/C issues: Compressor will not turn off when switched off

The on/off control of the compressor is different for different years and models. It's more complicated than you'd think. There's a Chrysler Master Tech video on youtube that explains it.

What is the size of that tire? It looks like L84-15. I've never heard of such a thing.

    Question on Ballast Resistors

This is a very interesting thread. Thank you Big John for the excellent explanation. Are the 5-pin ECUs still being made or are they obsolete? Seems to me if you install the 4-pin ECU you can just use the existing ballast resistor that came with the original points ignition? On a related...

    Top Speed/Comfortable Cruising Speed

I have had the needle buried on my '68 New Yorker, but the speedometer is so inaccurate that it's hard to say how fast I was really going. I would have to say that at speeds above 80 I'd probably start getting nervous.

    1970 New Yorker keys

I thought Chrysler always had the best setup for the keys. They were made for a valet. He/she could open/lock the doors and start the car, but could not get into the trunk or glove compartment unless they had the round key. Genius. Ford and GM did not have have this genius feature.
