    Attempt to Eliminate PreIgnition

I hear this from older guys alot (no offense, Sir)...and the idea of water flying across the ignition plane just creeps me out.

    New to the c-body club

Oh good! I'm not the DFNG anymore! nice ride! saw your wishlist of upgrades. Everybody on earth told me to get disc brakes. Well, did my research, and as of now anyway, I'm staying drum. Mine work very well, and upon further research it turns out that going to disc (15") leads one down the...

Question about the differentail. If it ain't broke don't fix it?

Done. Oil was old, but clean and no sludge. wheel bearings done, upper and lower ball joints greased. Discovered all my wheel cylinders are either leaking or seeping. yay me.

Need help naming and replacing this part

great. So I own a 66. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? any maintenance that can be done?, or is it just a case of a 50 year old piece of nylon drying out and getting brittle?

Question about the differentail. If it ain't broke don't fix it?

Great analysis, Dave. Quite logical. Yes, the car stayed in a garage for nearly three decades, undriven. But in Wisconsin...as in butt-*** cold. While that may exclude the issue of rust, the sheer amount of time sitting surely would degrade any dino-oil. Do you guys have a favorite for this...

Question about the differentail. If it ain't broke don't fix it?

'66 300 w'/ 38k on the clock. Running now, but prior to the re-awakening, it sat for 27 years.' Is there a compelling reason to change/not change the differential oil?. ..so far (digits crossed) everything runs fine. ...but .....27 years.

    My 67 newport dash

I need to do the same. My dash lights barely do anything. I want to keep the car as close to OEM as possible, and I'm looking for 6500k color temperature bulbs...slightly blue but not tuner-car dash blue. Anybody have LED sourced they've had good luck with?

My new old Jet Age 300

Hey thanks , man. I appreciate that. I really don't know anything about these cars, except that I like the way they look, and what they represent. My dad usually had import cars. Vw's, Jaguar, Triumph,BMW... so that's what I grew up with. They're nice, but there's no "glory."

My new old Jet Age 300

I love learning about the design/designers of this era. Elwood Engel departed from the Virgil Exner "Rocket ship" look and embarked on a path of horizontality and sleekness, that embodies so much of that era in terms of industrial design. I wonder if the C-bodies will eventually enjoy their day...

Strate- Thank you...yes, I feel quite lucky as the new caretaker. I never thought I'd own a car with a vinyl top...and a white one at that.

My new old Jet Age 300

Hi Dave- hey, what's the result of using (440) 7-leaf springs on a (383) 6-leaf?.....I ask because I'm having a hell of a time finding these springs for less than $450 (EACH!!) ..I see the 440 sizes for less than half that. Would my car's *** be bouncing all over the road? Sorry to be such a...

My new old Jet Age 300

This is the kind of analysis I like. Thank you, sir. so , what i've gathered is that for my car (two-door coupe with the 383), I need the standard 6-leaf springs with standard ride height, KYB shocks, and rubber leaf bushings , and poly bushings elsewhere. I'm also assuming new U-bolts. Can you...
