Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately your tag at Simplexco is one of the things I posted. What are the odds of that, of finding a webpage on your car before it was your car??? And BTW - I sent you a PM on something 300L-related.

All 300Ls would have the same 413HP, with 360 hp rating. I've not paid attention to those cars/codes because they should all be the same. Until now, anyway. Here's a posting of a car and FT, I think this might be the former Don Rook car that someone on here sold awhile back (@hergfest...

99 at AB would be special-order engine per the codes on some websites. But I once had a 65 Dodge 880 with a 383-2, and it had a 99 for engine code (which matches the black snip below). My 300L also has a 99, and Simplexco says 65 Chrysler AB of 99 is for 413. But a different website says...

Was it coded for a 4-speed also?

Those rear wheels have the appearance of the 15x8 Ramcharger wheels, which have 4" BS.

Plain Jane/ turn up the base.

That was the opening act for Commando1's main event - the NYB 4-speed conversion. @commando1 - that '66 was many years ago. Do you know where that car went/where it is now?

Looks like a good candidate for that metal-plasma spray stuff. I don't think this system ever took off, though. I just googled and it's from 2004, with all the other hits being chemical stabilizers. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/mopp-0401-repairing-filler-holes-with-a-metal-spray-machine/

    "Special" Editions

Kinda funny. I have a buddy with 2 SC/Ramblers in his barn, 1 in A, other in B. He got one of them out recently, washed the dust off, and put a 401/AT in it just to get it mobile. IIRC his Dad bought one of them new. And his Dad is still kickin', so it's legitimately a 1-owner car. As I...

Exactly What Wheels & Tires Fit C Bodies?

Yes, there was a little ridge of metal that needed to be removed from the bore. The rest of the bore might've been the correct size, I haven't been back to the car to confirm that.

Exactly What Wheels & Tires Fit C Bodies?

Followup on this wheel that started here: Exactly What Wheels & Tires Fit C Bodies? Bought a solo wheel, I can use it for a spare tire, which I was needing anyway. It fit OK but my gut told me it wasn't seated fully on the brakedrum's pilot. Sure enough, I put it on a loose brake rotor...

    RIP member tdenkler (Tom Denkler)

Yeah, that's a huge drawback of the internet. So easy to connect to people, so easy to not make real connections. Most times we don't even know each other's full name and hometown - anonymity and privacy cuts both ways. I've often thought that each of us regulars ought to have a pen pal to let...

You'll have this thing shiny and roadworthy before I get my sparkplugs changed! That Gremlin cap (for the steering wheel?) has red-white-blue similar to what a Chrysler 300 might have.

FYI, as there was some specific car/ownership stories being shared here - I just discovered that 'tdenkler' passed away in early 2021. If any of you knew him, you could leave a note here, to have all of them in one place: RIP member tdenkler (Tom Denkler)

    RIP member tdenkler (Tom Denkler)

I was doing some digging on some topics and saw that we haven't seen Tom Denkler in a few years. He had put some contact info in a thread, and I confirmed some of that info to an obituary, and to his Chrysler 300 Club page. Enough details match to conclude he's gone. I'd had emails with Tom...

I was thinking of this style of centercap. I presumed it would look better than the '70-74 version. But as you say, we haven't seen that look yet, so I'd be glad to see it either way. Even an AMC volcano would be worth seeing.

Diagnosing Slow Acceleration In New To Me Truck

A transmission that slips during shifts might last awhile if it's babied. A transmission that's slipping constantly at highway speed is going to toast the clutch or band in short order.

Valley Vintage Auto parts - not around any more?

Old thread, but... I met him probably 20 years ago at a swap meet. He looked about 65-ish then. Although, he did have white hair, which might make my estimate of his age a little high.

While I'm not a fan of 'generic' chrome wheels like this, I wonder how those wheels would look with a Mopar centercap on them.

Even if it's just a tiny gasket leak? Or where the gasket is puckered out between the bolts? Asking because I've never had to diagnose one.
