1964 Chrysler New Yorker 2-door project

Don't know what your plans are for brakes, but here's a good read: 1964 New Yorker gets 1978 Cordoba 11.75-disc brakes.

    My new 1970 New Yorker

Congrats, @John Kelly. There are a lot of guys in ILL, so you should make some friends there. I've met a few of them by taking a trip with @ayilar, he's an ambassador for sure. Glad to see that car stayed in the FCBO family, I thought it was a striking car when I saw it for sale. Good colors.

Hobby Upholstery shop setup and projects

The cost can be a funny thing too, sometimes. A hobbyist working on his own stuff doesn't have the experience but has pride and determination to succeed. But maybe he figures a professional will surely do a better job. A professional has the skills and practice, but might do a half-*** job...

Hobby Upholstery shop setup and projects

yes, cedar dog-eared fence boards are an economical source for non-fencing wood use. Last year the 1x1 wooden garden stakes at the local Menards were saw-cut from maple, but had steps where they seemingly cut them 1/2-way thru from opposite sides. (???) This year they have been a mix of oak and...

And on top of that, the people that are capable are slowly retiring. And it's sometimes more time-consuming researching who is still around, vs learning to do it yourself.

I like the corrugated tin. I used some of that to skin a cedar-framed raised-garden box. Never considered using it to make the garage a cool place, though. If you need denser storage, here's something I did in my garage. It's bigger and more HD than it needed to be, but it'll hold a ton of...

Looking to sell 1975 Cordoba for a Vet, any tips?

I believe you mean 35mph. Dad's '80 Diplomat hit lockup at 35, no matter what the driving conditions were. Trying to get a small trailer up to highway speed at 80% throttle? Here, let me help you by further reducing the performance of a 120hp 318 fighting thru 2.24 axle gears. I don't see if...

Uncle Ray is going in for round 2

Yeah, if that is recent undercoating I'd leave it alone unless it has areas that aren't sealed well. It's the factory undercoating, that may have cracks/voids allowing moisture to get behind, that needs to be dealt with. IMO it's near impossible to get all that stuff off unless the car is on a...

    Ain’t gonna be no rematch!

The makes me wonder how this car would be with a new 8-speed 8HP70. Would need careful consideration of axle ratio and tire dia. And even then, I'm betting there would be 1 or 2 gears that weren't usable. But the other 6-7 would make for a definite improvement.

    Ain’t gonna be no rematch!

This car would be an ideal application for the Borg Warner R10 or R11 overdrive, but I have not yet head of an adaptation to a 60s/70 Mopar trans. It functions somewhat like the Gear Vendors, in that it allows some gear splitting (but not in every gear). IIRC, it also allows freewheeling under...

'Leave' if you want, and there are options to accept future messages. Although I don't know what happens if every participants 'leaves'. If you want to retain the info, you have 2 options (that I know of): You can 'export' and the website will make a file for you, that you need to wait on...

BTW - welcome to the group, @Bobbyc. If you buy the car, and you pass thru Indy on this adventure (and I presume you would on the way to KY), perhaps we can meet somewhere for a burger.

    Ain’t gonna be no rematch!

Are the /6-V8 conversion brackets still available? If so, no need to swap a subframe. If the car didn't have a swaybar, it's possible it got large-diameter torsion bars. My 68 Fury with 318 was that way. Would a /6 be the same? Only a measurement can say for sure. Does it need the disc...

    Ain’t gonna be no rematch!

I read all of the build thread due to this 'rematch'. I hadn't seen the car before that. I understand the frustration. Sometimes we simply cannot know until afterward what we should've done. But it would be a shame for your rust repair, paint-polishing, and that nice interior to go outside...

    Getting running again

Steel lines - check Inline Tube, Fine Lines, google for other companies. Rubber hoses - local parts store or Rock Auto. If you want a step upward, see if stainless braided brake hoses are available for your application. I have used them on 2 cars in the past 20 years and they are my go-to...

    1972 Polara 4 door sedan

@ayilar Thanks for your diligent work in tracking cars so we can follow where they go. A 72 Polara 4dr is a cool-looking car, it's on the short list of cars where I prefer the 4dr to the 2-door. And this one has definitely had 'cool' built into it. (good work, @Triple Pickle!) Hopefully...

    Getting running again

Not knowing how old the metal tubes are and how long/what conditions the car sat in, it's all speculation for us. If you have no pedal at all, I would think metal tubes and hoses would be first places to look. as @CBODY67 said, look for wet places. Might simply be a justification to replace...

At least it has the 2 white parts, the ones at the rear are the most common ones to break and the front one seems to go AWOL a lot.
