    Another Rookie Question?

Yep. I was hung out to dry a few years ago over on the IML for asking what I thought was a valid question. To me any question deserves an answer

Rear main seal install screw up. Need help!

I have been following this with interest and hope it works out for Jake. Something good that has come from his issues is that its reaffirmed my procrastination with replacing the leaking rear main seal on my 78 NYB

Misery loves company..78 NYB cranks but no start

Thanks , No I don't but when I initially tried starting the car and saw that there was a problem I put my 2-4-6 amp battery charger on the battery at 2 amps. The charger was on the battery for probably 10 hours or so . The battery in the car is a year old Walmart battery that seems to spin the...

Misery loves company..78 NYB cranks but no start

Thanks . What should the voltage be? Take it easy on me as my electrical troubleshooting skills and knowlege are limited. I have determined that there seems to be a problem with spark. I pulled a spark plug(new) and putting it to ground while cranking the car over showed little to no spark

Misery loves company..78 NYB cranks but no start

I could have copied word for word the 68 Newport no start thread. Difference being its my 78 NYB with 400 engine that ran great (well ok) when parked three weeks ago. Tried starting it this morning and nothing...just turns over. After seeing that it seemed to be getting gas down the...

Procedure - Engine Removal, Rear Main Seal Replacement

A “drop” of oil I could live with. The oil left on the ground by my New Yorker’s 400 is typically about 2- 3 inches in size.

Procedure - Engine Removal, Rear Main Seal Replacement

Thanks I will. The rest of the engine (400) is bone dry and I looked it over carefully when first contemplating replacing the seal. Believe me I will look it over carefully again before tearing into it .

Procedure - Engine Removal, Rear Main Seal Replacement

Thanks everyone for the information even though I am not the original poster. I have been procrastinating on replacing the leaking rear main seal on my 78 NYB. Luckily? a Minnesota winter intervened with my planned replacement and the car went into storage. I would assume that most the...

sizable oil drips from my 78 New Yorker

Good advice. I had the car sitting idling today while I poured (no pun intended) over the engine with good lighting looking for leaks. I spent about a half hour looking at everything possible for leaks. I ended up watching oil drip steadily out of the cover type plate? in front of or part of...

sizable oil drips from my 78 New Yorker

valve covers and pressure switch while not bone dry unfortunately are not the cause of my steady oil drip. Looks to be the rear main seal .....:(

sizable oil drips from my 78 New Yorker

On my way to searching out the oil drips from my New Yorker I ran into this The picture doesn't show the severity, but a major drip/leak from the worn out rubber gas line kept me busy replacing the rubber line today. I did see that it was wet around the top of the oil sending unit, so bought...
