vintage pics of women & cars

The grumpy woman leaning against the side of the green 53ish Ford was giving a look that had me feeling guilty. And I didn't do anything! She had to be a mom.:D

The Van Lee Iacocca pitched to Ford before he joined Chrysler

Interesting. My Aerostar beyond normal maintenance caused me zero problems. It was also(I’m told by a friend that worked for Ford) somewhat of a oddity Aero star in that it had dual air and heat though it wasn’t an extended van. It would cook or freeze you depending on what you wanted.

Time travel: what MoPar would you get?

Didnt have to think twice. 1961 Imperial Lebaron . I would be checking off every option box I could when ordering. Dual a/c , stainless roof inserts etc, etc. Also in Pinehurst green poly (GG1) . Not that I have thought about this over the years while day dreaming.....

Little news blurb I found in a 1962 U.S. News

A since retired co-worker of mine that grew up on the east coast told me that a family in his neighborhood had one of the turbine cars to use /test. He admitted that then as now he isn't a "car guy" . He said the only lasting memory he had of the car was that when it went past him it sounded...

    1964 Chrysler New Yorker $3500

I have a soft spot in my heart for the 63-64 full sizers Chrysler’s . Isn’t the 64’s that Elwood Engel actually added a bit of tail fin to Exners original 63 design? I don’t remember seeing a steering wheel like this one though. I thought they were all the squared type wheel.

    Traded off the Corvette...

My daily driver is a 2018 Jetta with the 1.4? Gas turbo engine. Pleasantly surprised with it as it’s quite peppy and fun to drive. Another pleasant surprise with it is it’s gas mileage. It approaches 40mpg when driven gently. Its 5 speed manual transmission is also fun to run though the gears

AMC Assembly plant video - Installing vinyl roof, etc

I toured the Ford plant in St Paul as part of an auto shop high school class in this same era 1973-74. I remember the shop teacher telling us that if you want a job with decent pay, and a pension and don't mind putting a nut on a shock absorber for the next 30-35 years then this is the job for you.

I was 12 years old and had just finished for the night the summer job I had with my older brother and his friend. We headed over to the friend's parents mobile home where his friends Dad was sitting in a tee shirt and underwear drinking a beer and watching the landing on a 19 inch black and...

    D-Day 75 years later

When I started working in 1974 it wasn’t until years later that I discovered many of my older coworkers were WW2 veterans. One was with Patton’s 3rd Army in a tank. One was a belly gunner in a B-17. Another was a foot solider in the pacific. The “kid” of the group was in the army and served in...
