It's tire time for my 72 Newport. I'd like to use cooper cobra white letters, I've had good success with them on my old Toyota. They offer 235/70/15 and 255/70/15. The latter is closest to the original height but I'm not sure if they'll even fit on 15x7 police wheels much less under the car...

I just looked at it and it's most definitely an 8 1/4 and the tag on the pumpkin informs me it's 2.76s.

According to the brochure the only option available for Fury's was the 8 3/4, or the 8 1/4. I know it definitely isn't a 8 3/4 because the cover bolts on from the back.

Mine isn't either especially considering I just bought it and I'm second guessing myself. I will check and see what it has in it tomorrow.

What's interesting is that it says in the above brochure that the fury only had the 8 1/4 for the 225 and 318 yet it's a fact this car was a 360 2 barrel. Wonder if it had ever been swapped.

The car was originally a small block so my idea was a warm 360 and an overdrive trans for right now to get it driveable, and maybe a big block and an 8 3/4 in the future. I'm trying to use as much of the car and associated parts as I can in the short term, and I really doubt a warm 360 could...
