    Purchased a Waldron Exhaust

Mine look like the ones in your first link: To me, the first cans under the rear seat look like mine and the ones under the trunk look round like the ones in your photo too. To me, the first cans look like mufflers and the rear ones look like the usual round resonators. In any case, what's...

    Purchased a Waldron Exhaust

I came to the same conclusion to use Waldron after talking with them quite a bit about making the 1970-71 440 HP dual exhaust systems for my two such 300s currently under full restoration. I worked with one of their employees to make sure they got those exhaust pipes at the HP manifolds...

Aftermarket muffler close in sound/db as OEM

Just curious, why did you go with TTI? If you had gone with Waldrons, you would have had factory correct pipes and if you chose factory quiet exhaust, you would have received two Imperial mufflers and resonators from Motiveair (I believe) in the first place for less expense and factory quiet?

Very glad the Waldron's exhaust systems matched the originals so well then!! That is very good news. Waldrons gets a gold star for sure!!

Aftermarket muffler close in sound/db as OEM

OK, it looks like after some actual measurements of a couple of my 71 Chryslers and Imperials that I finally have some dimensions (the cars I sampled are the ones with miles below 35K miles on them approximately and whose exhaust systems still look original). First my apologies to @CBODY67 as...

Aftermarket muffler close in sound/db as OEM

Yes, give me a few days and I should be able to get various dimensions from my single exhaust Imperials and New Yorkers/300s with 440 std engines and also the dimensions of the dual exhaust 440 HP C bodies that I have. They would all be 1970 or 1971 model year dimensions.

Aftermarket muffler close in sound/db as OEM

This is the first reply to this often posed question by me that really hits the bulls eye. Thank you very much for this new information to me at least. It is just want I was hoping to find somewhere. This is also the second Canadian company that I have learned about this month...

Aftermarket muffler close in sound/db as OEM

I have a few very low mileage C body Chryslers and Imperials and most of them are single exhaust with resonators in the rear. i have yet to find any aftermarket underfloor muffler, even from Walker or Magnaflow that is even close in dimensions to the relatively large original mufflers on my...

    Trouble with manifold nut.

When I rebuild an engine, I put grade 8 studs in place and use stainless nuts or maybe brass and also use anti-seize compounds on them. I also use exhaust manifold gaskets despite the engines originally did not have them. Any better ideas out there?

    Trouble with manifold nut.

If the exhaust manifold stud is original, and if your don't do as 413 suggested (I would soak it in Kroil), you will likely break the stud, and then you will have even have more fun. From my experience, it seems in 1971 the studs were a little higher grade steel than the factory 1970 ones...

    An Exhausting Decision

Yes, Stan. At least for another week. It has been a good driver for me since the body/paint was done by someone else before I got it and isn't perfect but still very nice, and I completely refurbished it mechanically so it is turn-key now. Drives like new and gets a lot of stares. One guy...

    An Exhausting Decision

I am doing a Y pipe for my 1971 Chrysler 300 with a standard performance 440 this coming week as well. I want to also keep it all stock. My 440HP cars get duals as the factory also did them. Like you, I just prefer stock. When I first got my car a couple years ago, I had the exhaust system...

    Waldrons exhaust

I believe the mufflers you got are about the best you can find these days. The originals were actually longer and more quiet than those I would guess, at least the last one I put on one of my single exhaust systems that looks just like yours wasn't as long or as quiet as the originals, but...

Exhaust manifold gaskets and using sealers

Been there - you are not alone. :(

Exhaust manifold gaskets and using sealers

If I have an exhaust leak at the manifold to head interface, I take the manifold off and get it planed (surfaced) to get it flat again. Then I use a steel composition gasket to help insulate the manifold from the intense heat that likely causes it to warp in the first place. I think Chrysler...
