    Exhaust Manifolds Ceramic Coated

I said 10 years ago when I remove the cast exhaust manifolds again, I would ceramic coat them. I am very happy with the look and hope the external heat reduction will keep the paint from cooking off the bottom of my valve covers.

Goldie will get her orginal heads reconditioned.

I had a post about swapping out my original 516 heads and after you guys comments I decided to recondition what I have. I got lucky last Sunday and had a beautiful sunny day in Ohio to work in the unheated garage. They came off without any issue. The good news I will hopefully have them back by...

Reconditioned 452 heads. What upgrades should I consider?

Goldie I suspect has burnt valves. I am going to confirm this tomorrow. I have never performed any internal work on the engine, except change the timing belt and cam 10 years ago. I am not looking for anything which will change her drivability. She has a 383, factory 4 barrel, cast exhaust...

Goldie has been sucking air all summer.

Goldie hasn't been running great all summer, but going out to dinner last night, it got much worse. It definitely seemed like a fuel delivery issue. I haven't changed the fuel filter for several years and I still have my original refurbished tank so that seemed like a logical place to start. I...

Leaks fuel from sending unit gasket

I have never been able to put more than a half tank of gas, without leaking from the sending unit seal. I have not really gone on more of a 100 mile trip so I haven't really dealt with it. I believe the problem is that the new sending unit with a new rubber gasket and locking ring do not fit...

    Recommendation for clear fuel filter

I thought there was a thread about fuel filters but, can't find it. Anyway I want to add a clear fuel filter ahead of my electric fuel pump for visual inspection. I bought one from autozone and the filter disconnected from the end and is just floating in there making it completely useless.

Engine cuts out after 3 to 4 seconds of medium acceration

This problem has got me baffled. This all started before I did any of the current work on the car. This is what I have done so far. 1. Mechanic fuel pump push rod 3/8 short, replaced new one, it is stuck in block, so I added electric fuel pump. 2. Rebuilt AFB again (3 year old rebuild), by...

    Accelerator pump issue?

Dammit I just want to drive Goldie. First I want to check and see it this appears to be my problem. Starts right up idles fine as soon as I go for a drive and accelerate I have probably 4 seconds of fuel and then it starts to cut out. Sometimes I can keep it going sometimes I have to restart...

    Fuel line thread sealer.

I have not had a good time this week working on Goldie. I installed a new fuel pump pushrod. It did not want to go in. I got out the mic and new and old exactly the same. Long story short rod is stuck in block. :Banghead: Plan B: installing electric fuel pump. (all attemps to remove rod...

    Another short fuel pump rod

I must thank Detroit Matt for the great thread talking about his hard start and fuel delivery problems on his '67. I started to have some starting problems last fall. I removed the freshly rebuild carb and found one issue but unrelated to the core issue. I then realized I wasn't getting any...

Alternative to Torqueflite kick down linkage.

It doesn't apply to me because I am running stock, but I found this interesting if you were thinking of modifying and dreading the thought of getting the kick down linkage right. http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/transmission-drivetrain/1504-the-lowdown-on-stock-torqueflite-kick-down-linkage/

    Valve body issue?

I took Goldie out for a nice extended drive today. I couldn't be happier with the front suspension and rebuilt "sport" power steering. I do have a few other things to sort out. One is the shifting on my rebuilt 727. It shifts to 2nd almost immediately, even under a heavy foot. I am...

Transmission is toast needs a complete rebuild.

The guy rebuilding my transmission got back with me yesterday. The transmission is all tore up. I'm afraid I probably did most of the damage driving it last year. He said he saved the internals to show me the damage. He ordered everything he needs for the rebuild and said it will be like...

Happiness is having a motor stand.

I got the engine and transmission pulled today, everything went smoothly had the engine mounted and the transmission separated within an hour. Never used an engine stand before what a wonderful thing.

How do I remove my driveshaft?

Stupid question but how do I remove the driveshaft. I have removed the 4 bolts at the rear yoke. I presume I would slide it forward to clear the rear yoke and the pull it out of the transmission, but it is not budging and I don't want to force anything since I don't really know what I'm doing.

I work better with an incentive

I got a great call tonight. The guy who is going to rebuild my transmission said he would help me pull my engine and transmission.:os_dancing2: I have plenty to do ahead of time to get everything ready to pull, but he is he ready when ever I am. I am very fortunate to have met him. He is...

318 wide block educate me please

This question comes from is a 66 Town Panel I listed in the Non c-bodies for sale section. Since this is an engine question, I thought I would post here. I talked to the guy and seems like a nice guy. He said he put a 318 wide block in the van from a truck of the same period. Advantages/...

Looking for a good book on engine rebuilding.

I would like to educate myself on engine rebuilding. It is nothing I am planning to do any time soon, but I would just like to understand the full process. This is one area I have zero experience in. Is there a good reference type book that goes into deep detailed of the process. I am...

The 727 is going to need some kind of rebuild

I got the leak taken care of, but now that it is topped off with fluid, it doesn't want to shift into first when it's cold. When it finally does engage, with a chirp of the tires, it runs fine. If I drive maybe at least 5 miles it works perfectly fine, if I put it back in park. I have a guy...
